Patent number: 11924814Abstract: The invention relates to improve use of resource units in MU transmissions of an 802.11ax network. An un-associated station may receive data frames over a downlink resource unit, RU, assigned to an AID, e.g. 2045, reserved for stations not associated with the AP, The AP may use a downlink RU sharing an allocation scheme feature of an uplink RU previously used by the un-associated station. The AP may also aggregated data frames addressed to several stations within the same downlink RU, for instance to acknowledge frames previously received from the stations. The aggregated data frames may signal which respective response RUs the addressee stations should use for a next multi-user uplink transmission to respond to the AP. These approaches particularly applies to the exchange of management frames for instance to speed up the association procedure of un-associated stations.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2023Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Patrice Nezou, Pascal Viger, Stéphane Baron, Julien Sevin

Publication number: 20240040621Abstract: A network adopts Low Latency Reliable Service measures to ensure LLRS traffic has priority over not-LLRS traffic. LLRS capable and not-capable stations coexist and share the same wireless medium. LLRS not-capable stations complete an ongoing legacy contention free transmission TXOP regardless of any needs of station to transmit LLRS. LLRS transmissions thus wait for a long time before starting. An AP detects LLRS activity in the network and modify the EDCA TXOP limit parameter of a BSS to force the stations to reduce their TXOP while LLRS activity remains. The AP can organize a BSS for LLRS capable stations and another BSS for LLRS not-capable stations. Refusal for association to such BSSs or disassociation from such BSSs can include a code indicating to the refused/disassociated stations that a BSS more adapted to its LLRS capability is available.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2021Publication date: February 1, 2024Inventors: Brice LE HOUEROU, Stéphane BARON, Julien SEVIN

Publication number: 20240022947Abstract: A network adopts Low Latency Reliable Service measures to ensure LLRS traffic has priority over not-LLRS traffic. Active measures are applied by stations exchanging LLRS traffic in the network. Passive measures are applied by stations not participating in the LLRS traffic exchange, to reduce use of the medium for exchange of not-LLRS traffic. The LLRS traffic is thus prioritized. The AP declares the LLRS requirements for the non-AP stations to join the BSS, such as the LL measures. A non-AP station wishing to join the BSS declares its LL capabilities to implement LL measures, during an association procedure. The AP decides whether to authorize or refuse the association based on the declared capabilities, thereby building a BSS with non-AP stations that are capable of applying passive LL measures when LLRS traffic is to be exchanged between stations. Achievement of low latency, PDR and jitter requirements is consequently eased.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2021Publication date: January 18, 2024Inventors: Julien SEVIN, Pascal VIGER, Patrice NEZOU, Mickaël LORGEOUX

Patent number: 11784775Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to enhanced multi-user (MU) uplink (UL) protocols in wireless networks that allow non-UL transmissions to be performed simultaneously with triggered MU UL transmissions. A station may send a trigger frame triggering MU transmissions with an appropriate signaling to allow non-UL transmissions, i.e. transmission to another station, in a resource unit of the MU transmission. Examples of non-UL transmissions include Direct Link transmissions as well as downlink (DL) transmissions. The present disclosure regards how acknowledgment of or response to such transmissions can be efficiently performed. A response resource unit to be used within a MU transmission by the DiL/DL destination station to send a response to the (DiL/DL) data transmission may be signaled in the trigger frame triggering the DiL/DL transmissions in appropriate resource units.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2019Date of Patent: October 10, 2023Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Stéphane Baron, Patrice Nezou, Pascal Viger, Julien Sevin

Publication number: 20230139446Abstract: According to some embodiments, there is provided a Collective Perception Message, CPM, characterizing a plurality of Vulnerable Road Users based on a plurality of received VAMs, thereby allowing an ITS station to efficiently aggregate VAM messages from VRUs and retransmit information about the VRUs to other ITS stations. Consequently, the security is improved as some ITS stations may not be able to detect or identify VRU stations by themselves but thanks to the CPM, these stations can still be informed of the VRUs. According to other aspects, congestion is avoided while maintaining safety vis-à-vis VRUs thanks to the use of a different transmission scheme when the VRU is already characterized in a CPM sent to the ITS stations. Also, a receiving station can evaluate whether the content of a CPM can be trusted or not. Safety is thus improved. This is achieved thanks to the CPM that references a certificate.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2022Publication date: May 4, 2023Inventors: Eric NASSOR, Hervé RUELLAN, Julien SEVIN
