  • Publication number: 20020110145
Abstract: Required power consumption is reduced for communication between communication devices connected to a network by an IEEE 1394 bus line. When the network includes communication in a synchronous communication mode and communication in an asynchronous communication mode, a power supply for a communication process in the synchronous communication mode is controlled independently of a power supply for executing a communication process in the asynchronous communication mode. Similarly, the power supply for executing the communication process in the asynchronous communication mode is controlled independently of the power supply for executing the communication process in the synchronous communication mode.

  • Patent number: 6397277
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting data among devices connected to a serial data bus at maximum speeds are disclosed. Each device may be capable of transmitting data at several speeds. A transmitting device first transmits a data packet to a target recipient device at a maximum transmission speed of the transmitting device. If an acknowledgement signal confirming receipt of the initial data transmission is received from the target recipient, then the transmission speed for subsequent data packet transmissions's set to the speed of the just-transmitted data. Otherwise, the transmission speed is reduced and the process is repeated. Once an acknowledgement is received and the speed is set, the speed may be stored in a memory of the transmitting device for use in future communications with the recipient device. The process is repeated to establish maximum suitable transmission speeds to other target devices connected to the bus.

  • Publication number: 20020041603
Abstract: A power consumption required for communication between communication devices connected to a network constituted by an IEEE 1394 bus line is reduced. When communication in a synchronous communication mode and communication in an asynchronous communication mode can be performed, a power supply of a part (110) for a communication process in a synchronous communication mode is controlled independently of a power supply of a part (105, 106) for executing a communication process in an asynchronous communication mode. The power supply of the part (105, 106) for executing the communication process in the asynchronous communication mode is controlled independently of the power supply of the part (110) for executing the communication process in the synchronous communication mode.

  • Patent number: 6268336
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treatment of hepatic diseases which comprises erythropoietin as an active ingredient to reduce excess iron ions in the liver of a mammal with hepatic diseases, thus improving hepatic functions of said mammal. According to the present pharmaceutical composition with erythropoietin as an active ingredient, excess iron ions in the liver of a mammal with hepatic diseases can be decreased, so it is effective for treatment of chronic hepatitis, hepatic carcinoma, hepatocirrhosis etc. due to excess iron ions. Further, patient's anemia accompanying venesection can be prevented while excretion of excess iron ions can be promoted by using the venesection therapy in combination with the administration of said pharmaceutical composition.

  • Patent number: 6105058
Abstract: A plurality of terminals are connected to a common data bus. Each terminal is capable of issuing and processing two types of commands: a simultaneous command and a non-simultaneous command. A receiving terminal processes every simultaneous command, but processes only the most recently received non-simultaneous command. The receiving terminal acknowledges the receipt of every received simultaneous command and of every executed non-simultaneous command. The receiving terminal sends a reject signal for every received non-simultaneous signal that was not executed.

  • Patent number: 6054098
Abstract: This invention provides an apparatus for measuring ozone in which interference effects of SO.sub.2 are intended to be reduced. This invention comprises a reference gas line for generating reference gas with ozone removed by allowing the sample gas to pass through the ozone decomposer with silver wool used as a catalyst, a sample gas line for introducing the sample gas as it is, an ozone analyzer to which the reference gas line and the sample gas line are connected via a selector valve and which measures the ozone component in the sample gas by introducing the reference gas and the sample gas alternately at specified intervals, and a temperature controller installed to the ozone decomposer for setting the catalyst reaction temperature to a range from 100 to 130.degree. • Patent number: 5919261
Abstract: The invention provides an electronic apparatus and an operation mode controlling method for the same by which the power dissipation of a communication interface of a node on an IEEE 1394 serial bus is reduced. The electronic apparatus includes a communication interface which is composed of a physical layer controller, a link layer controller and a CPU. When the electronic apparatus is not connected to any other electronic apparatus via an IEEE 1394 serial bus, the link layer controller does not operate, but after the connection is established, the link layer controller operates.

  • Patent number: 5843677
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of immunoassay of asialoglycoprotein receptors (AGPR) by bringing a specimen into contact with a monoclonal antibody that recognizes AGPR, wherein the pH of a diluted specimen solution is adjusted from 5 to 7 or phenol is added to a solution of an enzyme-labeled antibody. This method is excellent in the sensitivity and accuracy of AGPR assay and can be applied also to the screening of hepatopathy remedies.

  • Patent number: 5255072
Abstract: A method and apparatus for analyzing fluid by a multi-fluid modulation mode is characterized by subjecting a plurality of sample fluids (which may be different or a single sample fluid divided into a plurality of systems) to a fluid modulation by reference fluids at various frequencies, respectively. An analytical portion provided with only one sensor is simultaneously and continuously supplied with the respective sample fluids. An output signal from the sensor in the analytical portion is divided into signal components of the respective modulation frequencies for the respective sample fluids to rectify and level, whereby obtaining analyzed values about the respective sample fluids is achieved.
