  • Patent number: 5327621
Abstract: A reinforcing matrix is produced using a plurality of regulating members (pins) removably arranged in rows in a predetermined direction on a base. Yarns are woven between the pins on the base repeatedly looping back and forth between spaced apart positions to form a yarn lamination consisting of a plurality of yarn layers over the base. The yarns forming the yarn layers are arranged in at least two directions. Thereafter the yarn lamination is removed from the base together with the pins. Then the pins are replaced sequentially in rows arranged in the predetermined direction with separate vertical yarns which are inserted into the yarn lamination so as to form loops. A selvage thread is inserted in the predetermined direction through the loops of the vertical yarns.

  • Patent number: 5252659
Abstract: A molded product of a polypropylene composition comprising 60 to 85% by weight of a polymer mixture, 2 to 10% by weight of a fibrous filler, and 5 to 38% by weight of an extender. The polymer mixture comprises 30 to 70 parts by weight of polypropylene and 30 to 70 parts by weight of a copolymer of ethylene and an alpha-olefin having a Mooney viscosity [ML.sub.1+4 (100.degree. C.)] which is lower than 70 out of a total of 100 parts of polypropylene and copolymer. The copolymer forms particles dispersed in the product, and the particles have an aspect ratio of at least 5.

  • Patent number: 5153060
Abstract: A resin composition comprising polyarylene sulfide, polyvinylidene fluoride and optionally ultrafine particles and a method of adhering a polyarylene sulfide article and a polyvinylidene fluoride article by using a resin composition comprising polyarylene sulfide, polyvinylidene fluoride and optionally ultrafine particles as an adhesive comprises the steps of melting portions of the polyarylene sulfide article and the polyvinylidene fluoride article to be adhered and the adhesive at a temperature between a melting point of the polyarylene sulfide and 400.degree. C.; bringing the portions to be adhered into contact with each other via the adhesive in a molten state; and cooling the adhered portions in a contact state.

  • Patent number: 5079281
Abstract: A fiber-reinforced polypropylene resin composition is disclosed, comprising (1) a mixed polymer of polypropylene and carboxyl group containing polypropylene, (2) a silane treated reinforcing fiber, and (3) a coloring component of zinc sulfide and carbon black with a dispersing agent compounded thereto, said dispersing agent is polyethylene wax and the amount of said dispersing agent added to 20 to 50 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the zinc sulfide and carbon black.

  • Patent number: 4713419
Abstract: There is provided a thermoplastic olefin elastomer of polyblend composed of 30 to 70 wt % of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM), 10 to 30 wt % of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), and 20 to 50 wt % of polypropylene (PP). The EPDM is specified by the Mooney viscosity, propylene content, and third component. The EVA is specified by the VA content and number-average molecular weight. The PP is specified by the number-average molecular weight. This elastomer is suitable for use as a raw material for automotive exterior trim such as side molding, bumper, and mud guard which are produced by injection molding. The elastomer also affords molded items having a good matte-finished appearance. The polyblend obviates the process for partial crosslinking which was necessary for the preparation of conventional elastomer for injection molding.
