  • Patent number: 5744205
Abstract: A package and a method are disclosed for preserving freshness of produce using a corrugated fiberboard composed of an outer liner having a carbon dioxide permeability coefficient Pco.sub.2 of greater than 5.times.10.sup.-10 cm.sup.3 (STP)cm/cm.sup.2 .multidot.s.multidot.cmHg at a temperature of 27.degree. C.; a corrugating medium; and an inner liner having a water-vapor transmission rate of less than 100 g/m.sup.2 .multidot.day at a temperature of 27.degree. C. The end parts of the corrugated fiber board which are exposed to an outer surface of the package are substantially sealed with a seal tape. A wrapping paper covered at least on one surface thereof with a resin layer which contains therein less than 0.917 g/cm.sup.3 density of a copolymer of ethylene and .alpha.-olefin having a carbon number of 3 to 12, having a carbon dioxide permeability coefficient of greater than 8.times.10.sup.-10 cm.sup.3 (STP)cm/cm.sup.2 .multidot.s.multidot.cmHg, a permeability coefficient ratio Pco.sub.2 /Po.sub.

  • Patent number: 5213227
Abstract: A container is made of a laminated material that includes a tin layer which is exposed on the inner surface side of the container. Oxygen remaining in the container and included in the content is trapped by the reducing action of tin, and the content is prevented from being oxidized. Further, the remaining enzymes are de-activated and flavor can be excellently retained.

  • Patent number: 4885897
Abstract: A method of making a hermetically sealed container is disclosed. In the method, a water vapor (40) is blown into a container body (1) that has been placed with a product such as solid foods or the like leaving a space portion (3). Immediately thereafter or immediately after an inert gas (51) has been blown into the container body, the container body is hermetically sealed. The container has a relatively low negative internal pressure which is controllable with a small range of variation. The water vapor (40) is generated by blowing a non-condensable gas such as air, nitrogen gas or the like at a constant flow rate into a water (13) which is controlled to a constant temperature. When the inert gas (51) is blown, only the surface and its vicinity of the product (4) is heated by blowing the water vapor (40).

  • Patent number: 4057391
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for batch type sterilization of the type wherein sealed packages to be sterilized are charged into a sterilizing tank, steam is admitted into the tank, and then cooling water is admitted into the tank for cooling the sterilized packages, there is provided a heat storage tank which is heated by steam from an independent boiler for supplying steam to the sterilizing tank during the heating up step and subsequent sterilizing step which is effected at a constant temperature. During the cooling step, cooling water is admitted into the sterilizing tank from the top and bottom thereof and the cooling water in the lower portion is sprayed into the upper portion by means of a circulating pump.
