  • Patent number: 5390518
Abstract: The invention provides a method for improving the luster of a metal sheet surface without deteriorating the productivity and also in reducing the difference in glossiness between the upper and lower surfaces of the metal sheet at the time of cold-rolling. By making the velocity, after rolling of the metal sheet, equal to or larger than the rotational circumferential velocity of the work rolls, and by rolling the metal sheet with upper and lower work rolls crossed with each other in such manner that an angle of slip scratches left on the metal sheet surfaces becomes 5 degrees or larger and shear deformation in the widthwise direction can be effectively given to the metal sheet just before rolling, thereby improving the surface luster of the metal sheet.

  • Patent number: 5172846
Abstract: The device of this invention is to prevent the buckling of steel sheets and positional discrepancy between steel sheets by grasping and butting the front and rear ends of sheets by means of clamping means on a joining device carrier. For this purpose, a pair of joining device carrier 3 are moved on rails 8 mounted at both sides of rolls 9 for conveying steel. The rear end of the preceding steel sheet 1 and the front end of the following steel sheet 2 are grasped by the clamping means 4 and 5 on the joining device carrier, respectively. The clamping means 5 is moved close to the clamping means 4 by using a movable frame so that the steel sheets 1, 2 are butted together.

  • Patent number: 4869310
Abstract: The known belt type continuous casting machine is improved in that a pair of guides for side dam block groups are disposed at opposite sides, in the widthwise direction, of a cast piece. Each of the guides includes guide beams disposed in two parallel rows displaced in direction of the thickness of the cast piece. Each of a pair of side dams which are movable in synchronism with feeding of the cast piece is formed of a side dam block group in one row. Each of the side dam block groups is divided into two sub-groups, each of which has a length longer than a contact length between the side dam block group and the cast piece and each of which is guided by a separate guide beam.

  • Patent number: 4807339
Abstract: An application roller to apply a treated liquid of low viscosity onto the surface of a film or sheet which moves at super high speed includes a radially inner axially extending tubular treated liquid distribution channel for distributing the treated liquid in axial and radial directions, with an outer tubular roller body having an outer surface with circumferentially extending adjacent tops and valleys. The valleys are formed with laterally extending substantially parallel surfaces so that the application roller is of substantially gear shape on its exterior surface and including a lining of an application material over the exterior surface which, at least, cover the tops. The construction also includes a conveyor channel for the treated liquid formed between the treated liquid distributing channel and the application material.

  • Patent number: 4716687
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for grinding a rotary body, in which a rotatably supported grindstone is positioned in such manner that an extension of a rotary axis of the grindstone does not intersect a rotary axis of the rotary body and the rotary axis of the grindstone is inclined with respect to a plane perpendicular to the rotary axis of the rotary body to be ground. The rotary body to be ground is rotatably driven, and the grindstone is pressed against the outer circumferential surface of the rotary body to be ground in order that the outer circumferential surface of the rotary body to be ground can be ground by a relative slip produced at a contact point between the outer circumferential surface of the rotary body to be ground and the grindstone.

  • Patent number: 4671017
Abstract: A method and apparatus for grinding a roll in a rolling mill on an on-line grinding basis, are improved in that a freely rotatable grinding body such and is a grindstone is pressed against a surface of the roll to be ground as directed in the direction making a predetermined angle with respect to the axis of the roll. The roll is rotated so that the surface of the roll may be ground by a relative slip between the grinding body and the roll caused by their different circumferential velocities.

  • Patent number: 4656963
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for forming a uniform, extremely thin film on the surface of plastics molded articles, films, sheets, synthetic paper, fibers, metal, and other objects, the film containing an anti-static agent, anti-fogging agent, anti-corrosive agent, mildewproofing agent, and the like. According to the method of the present invention, a homogenous solution or emulsion is prepared by dissolving a surfactant and agents in a solvent such as water with the aid of ultrasonic waves, and the solution is made into aerosol of fine particles by means of cavitation. The aerosol is brought into contact with an object, whereby the fine particles of aerosol are deposited on the object and a thin film of the solution is formed on the surface of the object due to the difference in surface tension between the surfactant and the object. After evaporation of the solvent, the agents are left on the surface of the object in the form of an extremely thin film.

  • Patent number: 4608942
Abstract: An electrostatic preventive film or silicone film is applied to the surface of elongated substrates by spraying the substance while in a liquid state, substrate while it is moving at a high speed. The surface tension of the liquid is adjusted and then the surface tension adjusted liquid substance is jet sprayed into a fine particle production chamber and at the same time applied against a vertical impingement plate installed inside the chamber for the sake of producing fine particles smaller than 10.mu.. The fine particles thus produced are stored inside an accumulator tank for raising its concentration to a higher level, then the highly concentrated fine particles are given kinetic energy, thus providing the method of spraying onto the surface of the moving substrate.

  • Patent number: 4545009
Abstract: Estimated fuel flow rate is calculated by reading first data of the relationship between the opening degree of a fuel control valve and a fuel flow rate. Then, a compensation coefficient is calculated based on the estimated fuel flow rate, and the actual fuel flow rate is controlled on the basis of the compensation coefficient. Estimated excess air ratio is calculated by reading second data representing the relationship between the opening rate of an air control damper and the air flow rate. Then, the actual fuel flow rate and the air flow rate are controlled depending on the predetermined relationship of values between the estimated excess air ratio and the desired excess air ratio.

  • Patent number: 4399727
Abstract: A drum type shear includes a pair of rotatable drums, each drum including a shearing blade. The circumferential velocity of the outer edge of a first blade is greater than the circumferential velocity of the outer edge of a second blade, such that upon rotation of the drums with a workpiece passing therebetween, after the workpiece has been initially bitten between the blades, shearing of the workpiece is completed while the outer edge of the first blade overtakes the outer edge of the second blade.
