  • Publication number: 20170036902
Abstract: A water heating system is provided. The water heating system includes an inlet connectable to a supply of untreated water, supply and return lines connectable to a point-of-use water treatment system, and an output for dispensing a supply of treated and optionally heated water. An internal heating element is adapted to heat the treated water to one of a plurality of pre-selected temperature settings. Temperature control can be achieved by cycling the power applied to the heating element and/or controlling the flow rate of treated water through the heating element. The water heating system includes additional improvements in electrical compatibility, energy consumption, and remote failure detection.

  • Publication number: 20130048550
Abstract: A water treatment system having a sealing enclosure for separating an electronics module from a water treatment assembly within the housing of the water treatment system. The sealing enclosure is a one-piece component having a perimeter seal that extends continuously around the periphery of the sealing enclosure. The perimeter seal is configured to directly engage the housing to automatically create a seal as the sealing enclosure is installed in the housing. The sealing enclosure includes a stationary portion and a movable portion joined along a living hinge. The movable portion covers an accessible compartment and can be selectively swung open about the living hinge to provide access to the interior of the accessible compartment, for example, to replace the batteries. The movable portion can be closed to reengage the housing and reestablish the seal. The electronics module may include an electronic components mounting bracket. The sealing enclosure may be mounted to the bracket.

  • Publication number: 20030205518
Abstract: A filter assembly designed for use in a water treatment system is provided. The assembly includes an inner carbon-based filter and an outer replaceable pleated filter. Untreated water flows first through the outer filter, which traps particulates, and then through the inner carbon-based filter, which traps particulates and adsorbs contaminants from the water. The outer filter is intended to be easily removed from the inner filter, so that the outer filter can be removed and cleaned or replaced when plugged with particulates. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims. 37 C.F.R. 1.72(b).

  • Patent number: 6368504
Abstract: An activated carbon block filter including a unique bonded carbon mixture. The carbon mixture preferably includes a mean particle diameter in the range of about 60 microns to about 80 microns and a particle size distribution having less than 10% by weight of particles larger than 140 mesh and less than 10% by weight of particles smaller than 500 mesh. More preferably, the carbon mixture includes a mean particle diameter in the range of about 65 microns to about 75 microns. Even more preferably, the carbon mixture includes a mean particle diameter of about 70 microns and a particle size distribution having less than 7% by weight of particles larger than 140 mesh and less than 7.5% by weight of particles smaller than 500 mesh.
