  • Patent number: 7318963
Abstract: A composite chromium plating film containing hard particles in network-shaped microcracks, a surface-occupying ratio of the microcracks being 10 to 20% by area, a distribution density of the microcracks being 1,200 to 2,500/cm, and the amount of the above hard particles being 1 to 15% by mass per 100% by mass of the above entire plating film. This composite chromium plating film has excellent wear resistance and scuffing resistance with small attacking ability to a mating member.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 28, 2005
Date of Patent: January 15, 2008
    Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Riken
Inventors: Takeo Oshimi, Kiyotaka Oku, Katsumi Takiguchi
  • Patent number: 7291384
Abstract: The piston ring of the present invention comprises a thermal spray coating comprising chromium carbide particles having an average particle size of 5 ?m or less, and a matrix metal composed of a Ni—Cr alloy or a Ni—Cr alloy and Ni at least on an outer peripheral surface, said thermal spray coating having an average pore diameter of 10 ?m or less and a porosity of 8% or less by volume. A piston ring having excellent wear resistance, scuffing resistance and peeling resistance with little attackability on a mating member is obtained by forming a homogeneous thermal spray coating having a fine microstructure.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 7036823
Abstract: A side rail is formed into a ring shape having its generally rectangular section that has an outer surface 3 formed with a pair of edge surfaces 5 of small radius, and an intermediate surface 6 of large radius of curvature formed between the edge surfaces 5. When the side rail is in the inclined condition in operation, each edge surface 5 can easily ride on oil film on cylinder 16 and allow the side rail 1 to perform smooth sliding movement on the inner surface of cylinder. The intermediate surface 6 efficiently scrapes lubricating oil on cylinder to form lubricating oil film of necessary and minimum thickness between an inner surface 17 of cylinder 16 and side rail 1. Also, the larger radius of curvature for forming the intermediate surface 6 provides a larger contact area to the inner surface 17 of cylinder 16 to improve wear resistance.

  • Patent number: 4947081
Abstract: In a dual insulation thin film type electroluminescence device comprising a first insulation layer, a light emitting layer and a second insulation layer between a transparent electrode layer and a back electrode layer, a tantalum oxynitride layer is provided between the transparent electrode layer and the first insulation layer to prevent increase of the resistance in the transparent electrode and to prevent increase of current leakage in the insulation layer so that a high luminescence can be achieved.
