  • Patent number: 5162004
Abstract: An electric connector requiring decreased insertion and withdrawal force, even when including groups of 20 to 40 terminals. The connector includes a male portion, a female portion into which the male portion fits, and a cam mechanism. With the cam mechanism, the male casing fitted in a covering portion of the female casing may be slid horizontally between its original fitting position and a male and female terminal contact position, parallel to the fitting surface of the female casing, so as to slide the male and the female terminals out of or into contact with each other with less force than was required previously.

  • Patent number: 5129840
Abstract: Long and short terminal lugs are installed in alternate slots formed in the connector housing. Each terminal lug consists of an electrical contact portion and a wire connecting portion connected together through an intermediate link portion. The wire connecting portion is larger in width than the electrical contact portion. The wire connecting portions of the long terminal lugs and those of the short terminal lugs are staggered from each other in the axial direction. The long terminal lugs each have a depressed intermediate link portion so that the wire connecting portions of the adjacent short terminal lugs positioned by the side of the depressed intermediate links of the long terminal lugs are given sufficient space and are not interfered with by the wire connecting portions of the adjacent long terminal lugs as in the conventional connectors. This construction allows reduction in the size of the connector housing.

  • Patent number: 4973271
Abstract: A low insertion-force electrical contact female terminal characterized in that a distal end portion of a flexible base plate portion is folded back to provide a resilient contact portion. A movable support member is mounted on the terminal body and moves in the longitudinal direction of the base plate portion to provide a force to the base plate portion. The flexible base plate portion flexes in response to the force and the integrally attached resilient contact portion also flexes to facilitate entry of a mating male electrical contact terminal. Once the female and male terminals have been connected, the movable support member can be moved again to provide a maximum force to maintain a strong connection.

  • Patent number: 4952155
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an electrical connector, which comprises a male connector housing having a plurality of female terminals connected to wires, respectively, and a female connector housing, which is to be fitted to the male housing, having a plurality of male terminals connected to wires, respectively. Each of the female terminals has a first and a second tab receptacles, and each of the male terminal has a tab portion to be fitted to the first tab receptacle of the female terminals when the male and female housings are fitted together. The connector further comprises a joint terminal having at least one substantially U-shaped contact to be fitted to second tab receptacles of female terminals. The joint terminal is served to achieve electrical connection between some of the female terminals which are required to be electrically connected to each other.
