  • Patent number: 10164831
Abstract: A method, system, and/or computer program product improves an operation of an enterprise network. One or more processors receive an electronic request for delivery of a legacy component to an enterprise network of an enterprise. The processor(s) determine whether an upgrade component is available to the enterprise to replace the legacy component in the enterprise network based on predetermined request throttling parameters set by a receiver of the electronic request. The processor(s), in response to determining that the upgrade component is available to the enterprise, query a hardware sensor in the enterprise network for a sensor reading that indicates whether the upgrade component is compatible with an architecture of the enterprise network. The processor(s), in response to determining that the sensor reading indicates that the upgrade component is compatible with the enterprise network, reconfigure the enterprise network by an electronic installation of the upgrade component into the enterprise network.

  • Patent number: 7783279
Abstract: The last known location and last time of location update can be stored for each of a set of mobile devices in device-specific records. A request for a specific mobile device can be received from a location services application. The last time of location update for the specific mobile device can be checked against a current time. If the last update time is current enough, the last known location for the device can be conveyed to the location services application. Information can then be presented on the device that is specific to its last known location.

  • Publication number: 20080207217
Abstract: The present solution can include a method for handling requests to determine the locations of mobile devices in a subscriber network, such as an IMS based network. The last known location and last time of location update can be stored for each mobile device. A request for a specific mobile device can be received from a location services application. The last time of location update for the specific mobile device can be checked against a current time. If the last update time is current enough, the last known location for the device can be conveyed to the location services application. Information can then be presented on the device that is specific to its last known location.

  • Publication number: 20080114690
Abstract: The present invention can provide multimedia services by hosting within an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) compliant environment of a network operator at least one multimedia service, which is associated with a managed service provider. Instance-specific execution metrics can be determined for instances of the multimedia service. The execution metrics can include resource usage metrics for resources of the IMS compliant environment that are consumed during each of the instances. Revenue generated by the multimedia service instances can be shared between the network operator and the managed service provider based upon the execution metrics in accordance with any revenue sharing agreement established between the network operator and the managed service provider.

  • Publication number: 20030012162
Abstract: A terminal agent (34) for interfacing a wireless terminal (26) with an IP network (12). The terminal agent (34) includes a Radio Base Station (40) for providing radio service to the wireless terminal (26) and a Radio Network Server (42) for control and signal processing. A Network Access Controller (44) provides for registration functions conversion of signals between wireless protocol and IP protocol for facilitating transmission of the signals in both the wireless and IP environments. In this way, the terminal agent (34) is able to provide service to the wireless terminal (26) as if it were a terminal of the IP network (12).

  • Patent number: 6487602
Abstract: A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for transmitting and receiving short messages between a Mobile Station (MS) within an Internet Protocol (IP) based cellular network and a web site on the Internet. Each web site that the MS has access to contains an Application Program (AP). To retrieve the information, the MS within an IP-based cellular network originates a short message towards the AP associated with the web site using a pre-assigned E.164 number for the AP. When the short message reaches a Mobile Switching Center (MSC), an Application Manager (AM) within the MSC intercepts the short message and translates the E.164 number into an IP-address and port number for the AP. The AM extracts the data from the short-message, packs the data in an SMTP envelope and transmits it to the AP.

  • Patent number: 6487425
Abstract: A method of supporting a switch from a limited operations low power operating mode of a mobile station (50) to a normal operating mode of the mobile station (50) in a wireless network (40). The method comprising the step of causing the mobile station (50) to inform the network (40) that it is entering into a low power operating mode. The method further comprises. the steps of causing the mobile station (50) to enter the low power operating mode, and causing the network (40) to acknowledge that the mobile station (50) is in the low power operating mode. Calls is made to a number associated with the low power operating mode are terminated by causing the mobile station (50) to switch to the normal operating mode.

  • Patent number: 6246948
Abstract: A system (12) and method for automatically monitoring and/or controlling the actual speed of a vehicle (10) relative to the legal speed limit of the geographic area the vehicle is located in. A wireless transmission (32) containing location or legal speed limit information is received from a transmission source (24). If location information is obtained, database (40) is queried to obtain legal speed limit information for the physical location of the vehicle. The legal speed limit is stored into a memory space (36). Alternatively, the legal speed limit is used to control the actual speed of the vehicle. In a monitor mode, the system (12) compares the actual speed of the vehicle to the legal speed limit with a processor (37), and the relative information may be communicated to the driver. In an offset mode, the system (12) controls the actual speed of the vehicle to an offset amount relative to the legal speed limit, where the offset amount is set by the driver of the vehicle.
