  • Publication number: 20240026340
Abstract: Methods and devices for stabilizing a biological sample for analysis, comprising the steps of obtaining in a sample collection device a biological sample from a subject, the biological sample including at least one circulating cell-free first nucleic acid from the subject. The methods may include a step of contacting the biological sample while within the sample collection device with a protective agent composition that includes a preservative agent, an optional anticoagulant, and a quenching agent to form a mixture that includes the protective agent composition and the sample.

  • Publication number: 20200371086
Abstract: Provided herein are quality control substances for use with a microscopy-based urine sediment analyzer. The quality control substances comprise a urine matrix and a cancer cell, an algae cell, a yeast cell, egg white, or any combination thereof. Methods of detecting the presence of an analyte in a urine sample from a subject, quality control substances for use in identifying the presence of one or more analytes in a urine sample from a subject, and the use of a cancer cell, an algae cell, a yeast cell, egg white, or any combination thereof in the manufacture of a quality control substance for use with a microscopy-based urine analyzer are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8551784
Abstract: The invention is composition comprising red blood cells in an aqueous suspension medium and one or more cis di-ahls; wherein more than 6 percent by weight of the hemoglobin in the red blood cells is S-Alc glycated hemoglobin. In another embodiment, the invention is a method comprising contacting red blood cells in a suspension medium having a concentration of S-Alc glycated hemoglobin of greater than 6 percent by weight of the hemoglobin in the red blood cells with a sufficient amount of one or more cis di-ahls such that the concentration of S-Alc glycated hemoglobin in resulting composition as measured by high pressure liquid chromatography, immunoassay and boronate affinity methods is consistent.

    Assignee: Streck, Inc.
Inventors: Kausik Das, Gary D. Krzyzanowski
  • Patent number: 8546144
Abstract: By way of summary, the present invention meets some or all of the above needs by providing in a first aspect a method comprising contacting red blood cells in a suspension medium containing mannose under conditions such that the concentration of S-Alc glycated hemoglobin is increased to greater than about 6 percent by weight of the hemoglobin in the red blood cells. Preferably the suspension medium is an aqueous suspension medium. In preferred embodiments, the method is performed at about ambient temperature, 18° C. to about 23° C.
