  • Patent number: 4791160
Abstract: This invention provides a flame-retardant resin composition comprising:(A) about 100 parts by weight of a base polymer containing about 99 to about 20% by weight of a linear polyethylene and about 1 to about 80% by weight of a polyethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer having a melt flow rate (MFR) of about 1 to about 10 and a density of about 0.900 to about 0.850, said linear polyethylene having a MFR and a density both restricted to the range defined by a segment having points a, b, c and d at the corners thereof in the accompanying drawing, FIG. 1, showing the relationship between the MFR (according to ASTM D1238) and the density (according to ASTM D1505) of said linear polyethylene, and(B) about 50 to about 300 parts by weight of a hydrate of metallic oxide.

  • Patent number: 4769179
Abstract: This invention provides a flame-retardant resin composition comprising (A) about 100 parts by weight of at least one resin selected from the group consisting of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer, isobutylene-isoprene copolymer and ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer, (B) about 50 to about 300 parts by weight of a hydrate of metallic oxide, and (C) about 0.05 to about 5 parts by weight of a phosphorus-containing titanate coupling agent, the composition having been already crosslinked by use of about 0.1 to about 20 parts by weight of a crosslinking agent or by irradiation of ionizable radiation. The composition of the invention has an outstanding flame retardancy and can be made into a molded product capable of exhibiting fully useful mechanical and electrical characteristics.
