Abstract: There is provided an added value by electronically supporting an interaction between a person and a book when an electronic book is browsed and further executing digitization. A server device gives an identifier to each of digitized electronic pages of an electronic book composed of the electronic pages and manages the electronic book as an original electronic book. An optional number of electronic sub-pages that are pages corresponding to electronic pages is created, an auxiliary identifier is given to each of the electronic sub-pages, and an electronic personal sub-book composed of the electronic pages is created and managed for each of users. The page identifier and the auxiliary identifier are managed by being caused to correspond to each other. A terminal device having a touch screen receives an operation from a user and adds data according to the operation of the user to the electronic sub-pages as interaction data.

Abstract: A community member registration method is for registering a member in a community service system in which a community service server, and authentication server and a plurality of portable terminals are connected via a network. The community service server provides community service, the authentication server determines whether or not a member has authority to receive services provided by the community service server, and the portable terminals are capable of direct communication to each other. The method includes: sending a terminal identifier obtained from a portable terminal of an invitee together with a registration request from a portable terminal of an inviter to the authentication server; issuing an account of the invitee in response to the registration request in the authentication server; notifying the account to the portable terminal of the inviter from the authentication server; and sending the account from the portable terminal of the inviter to the portable terminal of the invitee.

Abstract: The invention provides a language data storage and reproduction apparatus wherein manual application of a tag is unnecessary and, even if key inputting for retrieval is not accurate, object language data can be reproduced. A tag application section automatically applies to each language data inputted from a language data inputting section a tag representative of a distribution position of the language data in the entire language data, and a data recognition section performs data recognition processing of the individual language data to obtain recognition data. A storage section stores the recognition data together with the language data to which the tags are applied with reference to the tags. If a word or a phrase to be retrieved is inputted, a key retrieval section retrieves recognition data coincident with the word or the phrase from within the storage section.

A history storage section stores, when retrieval of documents is performed, a retrieval history regarding the retrieval into the history storage apparatus. A history retrieval section retrieves, in "retrieval which is performed utilizing a retrieval history", a retrieval history which satisfies designations of terms of an inputted retrieval item from among the retrieval histories by another retrieving person stored in the retrieval storage apparatus. A retrieval section retrieves documents utilizing retrieval terms of a retrieval history by the other retrieving person detected by the history retrieval section.

Abstract: A moving object navigation apparatus includes an input section, a map information memory section, a database, a coordinate retrieval section, a route calculation section, and an output section. The input section inputs institution names indicating the present location of a moving object and a destination by using a natural language. The map information memory section stores a map including information of roads and institutions. The database stores the relationship between the institution names on the map stored in the memory and position indexes. The coordinate retrieval section retrieves the institution names indicating the present location and the destination, which are input by the input section, from the database, and outputs corresponding position indexes. The route calculation section obtains the shortest route between the position indexes of the present location and the destination, which are output from the coordinate retrieval section, by referring to the map stored in the memory.

Abstract: A character string input system includes an input storage portion for temporarily storing input character string with an incomplete input indicative signs. There is also a word dictionary storing words. An incomplete word supplementing portion compares the character string with the word stored in the word dictionary. Also, there is a neglected word supplementing portion for predicting a word to be supplemented at the position of the incomplete input indicative sign representing an omitted word. A supplementing candidature storage portion temporarily stores candidate character strings for the incomplete word supplementing portion and the neglected word supplementing portion. A supplementing control portion controls the incomplete word supplementing portion and the neglected word supplementing portion on the basis of the incomplete input indicative sign, and retrieves the candidate character string corresponding to the position of the incomplete input indicative sign in the character string.

Abstract: The relationships between words included in an input character string are analyzed. At least one related element conforming to the analyzed relationships is extracted from the input character string. Subject sentences are retrieved from stored documents using the related elements as retrieval keys, and the retrieved subject sentences are displayed on screen. Priority rank is given to the respective subject sentences in accordance with the degrees of coincidence between the respective subject sentences and the related elements. The subject sentences are displayed on screen according to the given priority rank.

Abstract: Corresponding portions between data having different data formats, such as document data and figure data, are automatically managed to save labors for retrieving or updating. A general editing apparatus is additionally equipped with a display managing means, a means for managing related portions in a first kind of data, a means for managing related portions between the first kind of data and a second kind of data, and a means for managing related portions in the second kind of data. The related portions to be simultaneously referred to and updated are automatically managed and updated regardless of the different data formats.

Abstract: Morphemic, conceptional or semantic, and syntaxic dictionaries (21-23) keep morphemic, conceptional, and syntaxic items, respectively. Each morphemic item comprises a morphemic description and a first pointer pointing to a set of syntaxic items corresponding to the morphemic description. Similarly, each conceptional item comprises a conceptional description or symbol and a second pointer pointing to a set of syntaxic items. Each syntaxic item comprises a syntaxic description and a third and a fourth pointer pointing to a set of morphemic items and to a set of conceptional items, respectively. Responsive to an input expression, a retrieving arrangement (24) retrieves a morphemic and a conceptional item when the input expression is morphemic and conceptional, respectively. The first or the second pointer of the retrieved item is used in retrieving a syntaxic item by which the morphemic and/or the conceptional dictionary is referred back to.

Abstract: In a machine translating system wherein word units of a source language are translated to word units of a target language through pivot words of a pivot language, a pragmatic table keeps the pivot words as dominant and dependant pairs together with a relation symbol specifying a semantic relationship between the pivot words of each pair in the pivot language and with surface data representative of the relationship in surface structures of the source and target languages. On analyzing an input word unit string into a source semantic structure, the pragmatic table is referenced to link the pivot words into pairs by relation symbols incompliance with the dominant and dependant pairs and the source surface data therefor. The semantic structure is therefore allowed by the pragmatic table. On mapping the semantic structure to a pivot representation and the representation to a target semantic structure in consideration of wording of the target language, the pragmatic table is similarly referred to.
