  • Patent number: 9763133
Abstract: A plurality of cache servers, connected to a packet forwarding apparatus, forwarding a packet transmitted and received between a storage apparatus that holds a content under management in store and a user terminal, temporarily holds at least part of the content under management in store. A controller decides an on-screen resolution at the terminal, based on information contained in a content request message from the terminal, and selects a cache server that holds a content of the on-screen resolution in store. The controller instructs the selected cache server to deliver the content. The cache server instructed calculates a bit rate based on a signal received from the terminal. The cache server reads content from the terminal, which is to have the on-screen resolution and a bit rate not higher than the calculated bit rate. The content is stored in a packet and transmitted, then delivered without reducing the user's QoE.

  • Patent number: 9553815
Abstract: A server apparatus recognizes start of a voice call including the first terminal based on an operation signal received from the first terminal. The server apparatus allows a packet storing voice data to go through to the first terminal when the packet is received from a second terminal connected via the network in a case where start of the voice call is recognized. The server apparatus estimates a bandwidth of the network based on a first response packet sent from the first terminal in response to a packet sent to the first terminal, calculates a bit rate of the voice call according to the estimated bandwidth, and notifies the first terminal of the calculated bit rate. The first terminal switches a bit rate of the voice call according to the notified bit rate.

  • Patent number: RE47345
Abstract: Picture and speech communication between plural terminals connected to different networks, such as a circuit-switched network and IP network. A converting apparatus 400 for control information or media information for picture/speech communications is provided across first and second terminals 301, 302 connected to respective different types of networks. Converting apparatus 400 includes control information converter 420, transcoder 450 and ability information converter 460. In case the ability information extracted from the decoding information, received from the first terminal 301, is not coincident to the ability information extracted from the call control information received from the second terminal 302, it is further checked whether or not there is picture format size coincidence. If the picture format size coincidence persists in one direction, processing is carried out for converting part of the decoding information or the control information, without causing the operations of the transcoder.
