The cartridge further includes a lid covering a front side of the case body, and a reel lock member which has a braking claw to be engaged with an engagement tooth provided on a flange of the tape reel and which is adapted to slide with rotation of the lid. Ribs nip the reel lock member so as to perform positional regulation, and a sliding reel lock member urging device urges the reel lock member so as to engage the braking claw with the engagement tooth. A reel lock releasing member urges the reel lock member with rotation of the lid so as to release the engagement.

A part of at least one of the upper and lower halves that corresponds to the memory device may be notched. The memory device may be welded together when fitting other members.

Abstract: The present invention provides a recording tape cartridge comprising: a rectangular case having, at a corner portion, an opening for pulling-out of one end of a recording tape, and accommodating the recording tape; and a cover member which opens and closes the opening. The opening is formed by cutting-off the corner portion of the rectangular case, and when the cover member at least opens the opening, the cover member is accommodated within the case.

Abstract: The magnetic tape cassette has a base with an opening for forming a transparent window and a transparent resin-made window member to be installed in said opening. The window member is provided with an engaging unit which is to be fitted into the base at an angle and the base is provided with an engaging portion that is formed at an angle in correspondence to the engaging unit and the window member is installed in the opening by being fitted in at an angle.

Abstract: In a recording tape cartridge, a braking member positioned at a restricting position within a reel hub in a state of abutting an inner surface of a floor plate of a case when the recording tape cartridge is not in use, is held at the restricting position by a top end surface of the braking member abutting a bottom end surface of a clutch member. Upward movement of a reel is restricted. When a release operation portion is pushed by a releasing portion of a drive device and the clutch member rotates, due to cam grooves and cam projections converting torque of the clutch member into axial direction moving force, the braking member, whose held state is cancelled by the bottom end surface sliding along the top end surface, moves to a rising-up permitting position, such that rising-up of the reel within the case is permitted.

Abstract: When a recording tape cartridge is not in use, rotation of a reel, which abuts an annular rib of a floor plate of a case, is locked by a braking member which meshes together from above with an engaging gear, and a gap between the braking member and a spacer wall of a ceiling plate is filled-in by a spacer portion of a spacer member, and movement away from the annular rib is impeded. When, due to operation of a drive device, the spacer portion enters into a relief portion of the braking member which relief portion opens upwardly, the braking member is raised up by an amount corresponding to the gap formed between the braking member and the spacer wall, and meshing of the braking member and the engaging gear is cancelled. The reel thereby becomes able to rotate and to move away from the annular rib.
