Abstract: The present invention relates to a 2-hydroxypropanediamine derivative represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 mean individually a linear or branched C.sub.6 -C.sub.36 alkyl or alkenyl group, X denotes a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkylene or alkenylene group which may be substituted by at least one hydroxyl, sulfonic or carboxyl group and has 1-6 carbon atoms, y.sup.1 is a sulfonic group, a sulfuric acid residue or a carboxyl group, y.sup.2 means a hydroxyl group, a sulfuric acid residue or ##STR2## and n stands for 0 or 1, or a salt or quaternized product thereof, and a detergent composition containing such a compound. This compound is low in irritativeness to the skin and hair and excellent in foamability, and can give a pleasant feeling to the user's skin and the like.

Abstract: A hair cosmetic is disclosed which comprises the following components (A), (B) and (C):(A) a cationic surfactant;(B) a fat and/or an oil; and(C) an alkyl saccharide surfactant represented by the following formula (1) :R.sup.1 --O--(R.sup.2 O).sub.m --G.sub.n (1)wherein the weight ratio of (A)/(C) is from 1 to 20. A hair cosmetic which further comprises fine particles of an average particle size of 100 .mu.m or below as the component (D) is also disclosed. The hair cosmetic of the present invention gives a good smoothness, a good elasticity and an oil-free feel to the hair without imparting any sticky feel or dry and loose feel thereto.

Abstract: A shampoo composition containing the following ingredients (a), (b), (c), and (d):(a) a nonionic surfactant of an alkylene oxide adduct type,(b) a compound of a quaternary ammonium salt type, which has an aliphatic chain or which has an ether, an ester, or an acyl compound having an aliphatic chain, and which has a secondary or tertiary amino group and a quaternary ammonium group,(c) an anionic surfactant, and(d) a water-soluble polymer.The shampoo composition produces excellent creamy foams, and fingers smoothly pass through the hair fibers during shampooing and rinsing. The hair after drying is soft, and is handled easily with natural beauty. The dried hair is smoothly combed. Moreover, the composition is mild to the skin and the hair.

Abstract: A N-alkylcarbamylalkanol sulfate or a salt thereof represented by the following general formula (1-1), a process for producing the same, and a detergent composition containing the same, which is useful as a detergent for hair, body or tableware and has not only excellent foaming power and detergency but also high safety: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 6 to 22 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 represents an alkyl or alkenyl group having 1 to 22 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom: R.sup.3 represents a linear or branched alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; R.sup.4 O represents an oxyalkylene group having 2 or 3 carbon atoms; Ma represents a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal atom, an ammonium group, etc.; and n represents a number between 0 and 20.

Abstract: A hair cosmetic composition including (a) at least one compound selected from fatty acids containing a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 12-40 carbon atoms, salts thereof and fatty acid esters composed of one of the fatty acids and a polyhydric alcohol; (b) at least one aromatic alcohol represented by the general formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 means a hydrogen atom or a methyl or methoxy group, Y denotes a single bond or a linear or branched alkylene or alkenylene group having 1-3 carbon atoms, Z is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group, and p and q stand individually for a number of 0-5; and (c) at least one cationic surfactant.

Abstract: A toiletry composition for hair care which is not irritative to the hair and skin and has an excellent conditioning effect and which comprises:(a) a quaternary ammonium salt compound which contains aliphatic chains and, bonded to the aliphatic chain(s), a secondary or tertiary amino group and a quaternary ammonium group, and further which optionally contains an ether, an ester or an acyl group bonded within the aliphatic chain;(b) an anionic surfactant; and(c) a water soluble polymer, and optionally(d) an alkylsaccharide surfactant.

Abstract: A hair cosmetic composition comprising a branched fatty acids of the following formula (1), ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a methyl or ethyl group, n is an integer of 4-16, and R.sup.2 is an amino, alkoxy, or glycerol group. The composition imparts excellent sensation to hair and prevents hairs from being damaged.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition comprises:(A) a nonionic amphipathic compound having in the molecule thereof at least one branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 10-36 carbon atoms and at least three hydroxyl groups, and having a lamellar liquid crystal structure itself at 25.degree. C. and at 50.degree. C. or higher; and(B) a compound represented by formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a group ##STR2## R.sup.2 is a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or a methoxy group; R.sup.3 is a direct bond or a saturated or unsaturated divalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; each Y and each Z are independently hydrogen atoms or hydroxyl groups; and p, q and r are each independently integers of 0 to 5, excepting the case where all of p, q and r are zero and Z is H, and the case where all of p, q and r are zero, R.sup.1 is H and Z is OH.

Abstract: Hair care compositions which contain the following ingredients (a) and (b):(a) an alpha-hydroxymonocarboxylic acid represented by the formula (1) or a salt thereof, ##STR1## wherein R' is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a salt thereof; and(b) an aromatic alcohol represented by the formula (2) ##STR2## wherein R.sup.2 is a hydrogen atom, a methyl or a methoxy group, X represents a single bond or a linear or branched alkylene or alkenylene group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, Y is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group, and p and q independently represent a number from 0 to 5, provide excellent sensation upon use, impart long-lasting softness to the hair, in particular to solid or stiff hair, and provide easy manageability and handling of the hair for a desired hairdo.

Abstract: A composition for hair treatment such as hair rinse, shampoo, or hair conditioner, contains (a) 0.1-10 wt. % of a modified silicone polymer having at least one alkoxy group in the molecule and a melting point of not lower than 30.degree. C., (b) 0.1-20 wt. % of a cationic surface active agent, (c) 0.1-30 wt. % of an oily or fatty material, (d) 0.1-90 wt. % of an organic liquid which is compatible with water and of which molecule has at least one hydroxy group, and (e) water.

Abstract: A cationic compound is useful for a cleaning agent such as shampooing and defined by the formula (I): ##STR1## in which R1 is straight or branched and an alkyl having 7 to 15 carbon atoms or an alkenyl having 7 to 15 carbon atoms; R2, R3 and R4, independently of one another, are an alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; G is hydrogen atom, an alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms or a hydroxyalkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, E is hydrogen atom, an alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, a hydroxyalkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms or an ammonium group having the formula (II): ##STR2## Y being hydrogen atom or hydroxy, A being hydroxy, a halogen atom or an alkylsulfate having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, m being 2 or 3, n being zero or an integer of 1 to 5, provided that (1) when G is an alkyl or a hydroxyalkyl, E is neither an alkyl nor a hydroxyalkyl, (2) when n is 1, Y is hydrogen atom or hydroxy and when n is zero, 2, 3, 4 or 5, Y is hydrogen atom and (3) G and E cannot both be hydrogen.

Abstract: A shampoo composition is disclosed. The composition comprises an amidoamine-type amphoteric surface active agent, a specific type of modified silicone polymeric compound, and a specific type of polymer. It gives an excellent soft and smooth feeling during washing and rinsing, a superb natural hair-set effect without oily stickiness and roughness, and easy passage of comb through the hair. It is also mild to the skin, the mucous of the eyes, and the like.

Abstract: The present invention provides a novel betaine compound represented by the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a straight-chain or branched alkyl, alkenyl or hydroxyalkyl group having 8 to 22 carbon atoms; X is H or a hydroxyl group; R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each represent an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; Y is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 SO.sub.3, --(CH.sub.2).sub.n SO.sub.3 or --(CH.sub.2).sub.m CO.sub.2 ; n is 2 to 5; m is 1 to 5; and l is 0 to 5; a process for the preparation of the same; and a detergent composition containing the same. This detergent composition exhibits excellent foaming power and detergency and is lowly irritant, thus being suitable for a base of a body or hair shampoo.

Abstract: A hair cosmetic composition comprising:(A) a dialkylene glycol monoalkyl ether of formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R.sup.2 represents an alkyl group containing from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and(B) a compound capable of liberating a di- or polyvalent metal ion in an aqueous solution is disclosed. The hair cosmetic composition imparts adequate resiliency to the hair and inhibits damage to the hair such as dryness, stiffness and incidence of split hairs.

Abstract: The present invention provides a novel betaine compound represented by the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a straight-chain or branched alkyl, alkenyl or hydroxyalkyl group having 8 to 22 carbon atoms; X is H or a hydroxy group; R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each represent an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; Y is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 SO.sub.3, --(CH.sub.2).sub.n SO.sub.3 or --(CH.sub.2).sub.m CO.sub.2 ; n is 2 to 5; m is 1 to 5; and l is 0 to 5; a process for the preparation of the same; and a detergent composition containing the same. This detergent composition exhibits excellent foaming power and detergency and is lowly irritant, thus being suitable for a base of a body or hair shampoo.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition comprising a long-chain alkyltrimethylol is disclosed. The alkyltrimethylol is represeneted by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl group having 8-22 carbon atoms. The composition is applied to various types of cosmetic and exhibits superior extendibility when applied, imparts a non-sticky, fresh feeling upon use, and provides an excellent moisture-retaining effect.

Abstract: Novel hair cosmetic compositions comprising from 0.01 to 10% by weight of a particulate polymer having a weight average diameter of from 0.005 to 0.2 .mu.m, said particulate polymer has a particle size distribution of such that the particles ranging from 0.005 to 0.2 .mu.m in diameter are contained over 95% by weight and has a glass transition temperature, Tg, of over 300.degree. K. As the particulate polymer, polymer latex such as polystyrene latex, vinyl homopolymer latex, polyurethane latex, epoxy resin latex and the like are preferably used.The hair cosmetic compositions provide excellent hair style-forming/retaining property, good combing performance and good feeling of the treated hair. Further, they are free from easy separation which is inevitable for conventional compositions containing inorganic powder such as talc, mica and titanium.

Abstract: Novel detergent composition comprises one or more of N-acyl-N-hydroxyalkylglycines of the general formula (I) or salts thereof: ##STR1## The composition has a very good resistance to hard water, low stimulativeness, and good detergency. It is thus suitably employed as shampoo for babies, kitchen detergent and the like.
