Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for providing information about terminals allowing session mobility. A target terminal list is configured by locating terminals having higher possibilities for session mobility to locations having higher session mobility priorities on the target terminal list to reconfigure the target terminal list, the reconfigured target terminal list is transmitted to a terminal in which a session is currently being executed, and a terminal to which the session is to be moved is selected from the target terminal list. Accordingly, efficiency of session mobility is ensured.

Abstract: A system and method for a tele-education service system based on video conferencing are provided. The tele-education service system includes a host terminal to manage a tele-education service system; at least one participating terminal to receive the tele-education service; and a media relay to acquire video images from the host terminal and the at least one participating terminal, to combine the acquired video images differently according to user information of the host terminal and the at least one participating terminal and the progress stages of video conferencing and to provide the differently combined video images to the host terminal and the at least one participating terminal, respectively.

Abstract: A channel control apparatus for an Internet protocol television (IPTV) broadcasting service, which selects and pre-joins channels based on data regarding a channel zapping pattern of a user, thereby effectively reducing channel zapping time, and a method of pre-joining channels using the channel control apparatus are provided. The channel control apparatus comprises: a pattern information collection unit configured to collect data regarding a channel zapping pattern of a user for a cycle of a previously set period; a bandwidth management unit configured to set a pre-joining bandwidth, which is an allowable bandwidth for channels to be pre-joined, based on the collected data; a channel selection unit configured to select channels to be pre-joined according to channel preference of a user; and a channel pre-join unit configured to pre-join the channels selected by the channel selection unit within the set pre-joining bandwidth.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling Internet Protocol television (IPTV) service is provided. The IPTV service controlling apparatus includes a service control unit and a display information providing unit. The service control unit is configured to conduct a user authentication based on user information of an Internet Protocol television (IPTV) terminal, create Electric Program Guide (EPG) information according to a request for EGP information made by an authorized user, transport the created EPG information to the display information providing unit and provide the IPTV terminal with an IPTV service that is requested using the EPG information by the user. The display information providing unit processes the EPG information to correspond to an environment of the IPTV terminal based on information about the IPTV terminal and provides the IPTV terminal with the processed EPG information.

Abstract: A congestion control access gateway and a congestion control method for the same are provided. The congestion control access gateway interfaces between a broadband convergence network and a ubiquitous sensor network including sensors and terminals. The congestion control access gateway receives data from the ubiquitous sensor network. When a congestion situation has occurred, the congestion control access gateway detects the congestion situation based on data received in the congestion situation and broadcasts congestion notification and control messages in response to the congestion situation detection. The congestion control access gateway generates a congestion situation detection profile as a result of the congestion situation detection and performs priority queuing of the received data based on the congestion situation detection profile and service classes.

Abstract: Provided are an IPTV service system and a method thereof. The IPTV service system includes: a headend, a set-top box, and a plurality of multicast routers. The headend assigns a multicast group address for each channel and assigns a source address for each PID with respect to an MPEG-TS and packetizes the MPEG-TS into a plurality of packet streams. The set-top box identifies a user-selected channel and the necessary elementary streams in the MPEG-TS for the selected channel, and requests selective reception of only packet streams corresponding to the selected channel and the necessary elementary streams from the plurality of packet streams. The plurality of multicast routers form a multicast path between the headend and the set-top box.

In the method and system for providing a multicast service in an NGN, a multicast router calculates a routing path, and a number of multicast routers on the calculated routing path issue a request for resources for a desired multimedia broadcast channel, and a resource control server allocates resources to the multicast routers on the calculated routing path.

Abstract: There are provided a method and a system for controlling restriction on viewing multimedia contents. In the control of viewing multimedia contents through a terminal, contents transmitted to the terminal are restricted on a network according to a predetermined restriction condition to provide contents based on the user of the terminal. When it is required to change the restriction condition, the restriction condition can be remotely set and changed using a network for a specific user. Accordingly, restriction on viewing contents according to the user can be effectively controlled and the restriction condition can be effectively administrated to provide additional services.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method and apparatus for recommending personalized content in an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service environment. The content recommending method includes: acquiring a user's viewing history information regarding broadcasting content; analyzing the user's preference for each content item based on the user's viewing history information; creating a list of recommended content items based on the analysis of the user's preference; and providing the list of recommended content items to the user's terminal. Accordingly, it is possible to recommend personalized content according to users' preference.

Abstract: Provided is an access mediator system for mediating convergence services of communication and broadcasting using a non-communicative appliance. The access mediator system includes: a non-communicative appliance access interface unit performing an interface function so as to converge a non-communicative appliance comprising an interface supporting image and voice multimedia data but not including a communication function; a broadband convergence network access interface unit performing an interface function so as to access a broadband convergence network connected to various service provider servers via wire and wireless interfaces; and a main processor accessing a selected service provider server via the broadband convergence network access interface unit to mediate the selected service provider server and the non-communicative appliance.

Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for controlling congestion of a node in an ad-hoc network comprising: classifying a channel state into a busy channel state and an idle channel state and then monitoring the channel state; performing contention for acquiring a channel with neighboring nodes when data to be transmitted is present during the monitoring of the channel state; calculating an available bandwidth on the basis of the channel state when wins the contention; and determining the amount of data to be transmitted on the basis of the available bandwidth. The nodes in the ah-hoc network monitor their own wireless channel state so as to obtain channel contention information, calculate an available bandwidth from the channel contention information, and control a transmission amount on the basis of the available bandwidth. Accordingly, the nodes can avoid excessive traffic which exceeds channel capacity.

Abstract: An Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) broadcasting system is provided. The IPTV broadcasting system includes: An Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) broadcasting system for reducing a display delay when a channel is changed, including: a stream transmitting apparatus receiving a broadcast channel stream, generating an acceleration stream from the broadcast channel stream, and transmitting the broadcast channel stream and the acceleration stream; and a set-top box receiving the broadcast channel stream and the acceleration stream from the stream transmitting apparatus, and reproducing a decoding stream, according to a type of a received frame in the broadcast channel stream and the acceleration stream. Therefore, it is possible to reduce a display delay when a channel is changed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for predicting video traffic are provided. The method includes extracting the statistical properties of previous Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG)-4 video traffic and predicting the size of a subsequent frame based on the statistical properties of the previous MPEG-4 video traffic. Therefore, it is possible to address such problems associated with traffic bursts as transmission delays or low throughputs and thus to improve the performance of communication and network systems that transmit video traffic.
