  • Patent number: 6416297
Abstract: A compressor that generates relatively little noise and prevents partial clutch engagement and gas leakage when the inclination of a cam plate is suddenly decreased by a great amount. The compressor includes a control valve that electrically controls the compressor displacement based on external information. The rear end of a drive shaft is supported by a shaft bore formed in a cylinder block. A stopper is located endwise of the drive shaft to limit axial movement of the drive shaft. The stopper may be very stiff spring or a rigid member.

  • Patent number: 6343522
Abstract: A gear mechanism and webbing retractor having a compact size in which a pinion is prevented from being damaged when a large initial driving force is applied from a gear. When a sensor detects an emergent deceleration of a vehicle, a piston driving device is actuated so as to move a rack at its standby position in a direction to a pinion. When the rack is located at the standby position, a tooth face on a side near a front end, of a front end tooth thereof is in contact with a pressure receiving surface of the initially driving member. The rack is moved along a pitch line in the direction to the pinion so that the front end tooth presses the pressure receiving surface. As a result, the initially driving member converts the initial driving force from the rack to a rotation force thereby rotating the pinion in the taking-up direction.

  • Patent number: 6290468
Abstract: A variable displacement compressor has a housing, which defines a crank chamber, a suction chamber, and a discharge chamber. A bleed passage connects the crank chamber to the suction chamber, which allows gas to flow from the crank chamber to the suction chamber. A release valve, which is a reed valve, is located in the bleed passage. The release valve varies the opening of the bleed passage in accordance with the difference between the pressure in the crank chamber and the pressure in the suction chamber. This can prevent the pressure in the crank chamber from excessively increasing.

  • Patent number: 6275945
Abstract: In a computer system using an expanded unit for obtaining an expanded function, a heat sink of a computer main body and a heat sink of the expanded unit are connected to each other when the computer main body and the expanded unit are connected to each other. A surface area of the heat sink can be increased, and the radiation effect can be improved. Thereby, the computer main body can be operated under a full power mode in which sufficient radiation effect is assumed. Particularly, the performance of a small-sized computer whose setting space of the heat sink is limited can be improved.

  • Patent number: 6250892
Abstract: Suction ports corresponding to individual cylinder bores are formed in a partition plate. A refrigerant feeder channel is provided on a rear wall of a rear housing whose internal space is partitioned chiefly into a suction chamber and a discharge chamber. A structural wall of the refrigerant feeder channel constitutes an integral part of the rear housing. The refrigerant feeder channel is formed from an outer cylindrical wall of the rear housing, extends across the discharge chamber and opens into the suction chamber. An outflow opening of the refrigerant feeder channel has a slanting edge so that it opens toward the partition plate. The outflow opening is so positioned that its center lies on an axis of a rotary shaft.

  • Patent number: 6241483
Abstract: A compressor comprises a drive shaft supported in a housing, a piston accommodated in a cylinder bore and connected to the drive plate, a valve plate for separating the cylinder bore from the suction chamber and the discharge chamber. A discharge passage passes through the housing and the valve plate to connect the discharge chamber to the external circuit. Gas is sent from the discharge chamber to the external circuit through the discharge passage. A check valve is located on the valve plate to selectively open and close the discharge passage. The check valve checks gas flow from the external circuit to the discharge chamber. This prevents the pressure in the crank chamber from increasing to an excessive degree.

  • Patent number: 6186048
Abstract: A variable displacement compressor includes a rotor, which is fixed to a drive shaft, and a pivotal swash plate, which is supported on the drive shaft and slides in an axial direction along the drive shaft. A hinge mechanism is located between the rotor and the swash plate. The hinge mechanism rotates the swash plate integrally with the rotor and guides the pivoting and the sliding motion of the swash plate. The hinge mechanism includes a swing arm, which extends from the swash plate. The swash plate is made of aluminum or aluminum alloy material. The swing arm is separate from the swash plate and is made of iron-based metal material. Therefore, while the swash plate is light, the hinge mechanism is strong.

  • Patent number: 5779176
Abstract: There is provided a webbing take-up device in which a load required to rotate a spool in a webbing drawing direction with reference to a shaft is stabilized in the process of rotating the spool, a stable load can be achieved with small deformation, and miniaturization can be achieved. In an ordinary state, an EA plate keeps its original shape, and the shaft and spool are rotated together with each other. When the shaft is prevented from being rotated in the webbing drawing direction in vehicle sudden deceleration, the EA plate is plastically deformed by a webbing drawing force, and the EA plate is pushed in an internal-angle portion of the spool with rotation of the spool in the webbing drawing direction with reference to the shaft. The EA plate is bent by a U-shaped portion and then wound around the outer periphery of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5588608
Abstract: A pretensioner is disclosed which, when a vehicle suddenly decelerates, a large quantity of gas is generated, and the gas flows into a cylinder from a gas-generating a device. As a result of pressure of the gas, a movable pulley moves instantaneously together with a piston, so that the wire trained around the movable pulley is pulled. An amount by which a wire is pulled is twice an amount by which a wire is pulled in cases where the wire is directly connected to the piston, as in conventional devices. Accordingly, the wire can be pulled by the same amount by using only half of a length of a conventional cylinder, thus making it possible to manufacture a pretensioner which has a short cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5533870
Abstract: A housing has a refrigerant gas suction chamber at its center portion and a refrigerant gas discharge chamber at its peripheral portion. A valve plate between a cylinder block and a housing has a plurality of suction holes for connecting a plurality of cylinder bores in the cylinder block to the suction chamber and suction valves capable of opening the suction holes. The valve plate has a plurality of discharge holes for connecting the cylinder bores to the discharge chamber and discharge valves capable of opening the discharge holes. Pistons are reciprocatably accommodated in the cylinder bores. In accordance with reciprocation of the pistons, refrigerant gas is led into the cylinder bores from the suction chamber via the suction valves and suction holes. This refrigerant gas is compressed in the cylinder bores and is discharged to the discharge chamber via the discharge valves and discharge holes.

  • Patent number: 5513156
Abstract: A library apparatus where multiple moving commands generated by several upper-order units are conveyed to a director. The moving commands may be sequentially conveyed through the same channel or may be simultaneously conveyed through different channels. The moving commands are then conveyed to an accessor controller which includes a queuing table for storing the commands. The queuing table permits the accessor controller to receive additional commands prior to the execution of the previous command. Therefore, the processing speed of the system is increased. Next, the commands are conveyed to a plurality of accessors which transfer the medium cartridges to the desired location. Several accessors may be operated simultaneously in parallel. The simultaneous operation of several accessors also increases the efficiency and speed of the system.

  • Patent number: 5486098
Abstract: A swash plate type variable displacement compressor comprises cylinder bores, pistons, a suction chamber and a discharge chamber. A suction valve introduces a low pressure gas into a working chamber in each cylinder bore. A discharge valve introduces a high pressure gas in the working chamber into the discharge chamber during a compression stroke. A crank chamber communicates to each of the cylinder bores at rear sides of the pistons. A swash plate is tiltably supported on a drive shaft and connected to each of the pistons through associated rods. The swash plate makes the pistons reciprocate in response to its undulating swing motion and varies its inclination angle based upon pressure differential between pressure in the suction chamber and pressure in the crank chamber therefore adjusting discharge displacement.
