    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide apparatus and techniques that may be applied in systems that may help enable efficient communication between a base station (BS) and certain devices, such as wearable devices and/or machine type communication (MTC) user equipments (UEs), having a single receiver (RX) for long term evolution (LTE). An exemplary method, performed by a BS, generally includes receiving, from a UE, an indication of a category of the UE, wherein the category of the UE indicates at least one of: a maximum throughput supported by the UE or a number of layers supported by the UE; assuming a number of receivers at the UE based on the category of the UE; determining one or more transmit parameters based on the number of receivers of the UE; and communicating with the UE according to the one or more transmit parameters.

In some wireless systems, a user equipment (UE) may access a network or cell using a random access (RACH) procedure. A base station may allocate dedicated RACH resources and common RACH resources for the UE to transmit a RACH preamble message on and may convey a configuration for the UE. In some cases, the UE may perform multiple transmissions of the RACH preamble message in the dedicated RACH resources, and based on the configuration may determine whether to perform a single or multiple transmissions of the RACH preamble message in the common RACH resources. The UE may transmit the messages using the same or different uplink transmit beams, and the base station may receive the messages using the same or different uplink reception beams. These multiple transmissions may reduce latency and improve reliability of the RACH procedure.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some wireless communications systems, a transmitting device may identify a Radio Link Control (RLC) service data unit (SDU) to be transmitted to a receiving device. In some cases, the transmitting device may not have access to sufficient resources to transmit the entire RLC SDU. As such, the transmitting device may segment the RLC SDU into RLC SDU segments, and the transmitting device may transmit the RLC SDU segments to the receiving device. If an RLC layer at the receiving device receives one or more RLC SDU segments out of sequence, the RLC layer may initiate a reassembly (or reordering) timer. The RLC layer may reassemble the successfully received RLC SDU segments to be passed to upper layers. Once the timer expires, the RLC layer may declare that the missing RLC SDU segments are lost.

The method also includes selecting, based at least in part on the determination, one of a plurality of RLF procedures.     Abstract: A wireless device may receive a radio link control (RLC) protocol data unit (PDU) from a lower layer (e.g., from a media access control (MAC) layer) when processing communications (e.g., packets) received from another wireless device. The receiving wireless device may identify that the PDU is an RLC service data unit (SDU) segment based at least in part on an indication corresponding to a sequence number associated with the RLC SDU segment. The receiving wireless device may then determine that the RLC SDU segment is received out of order based on previously received PDUs or previously received RLC SDU segments, and initiate a reassembly timer based on the out of order determination for the RLC SDUs. If the remaining RLC SDU segments (e.g., that complete the RLC SDU) are received before reassembly timer expires, the wireless device may reassemble the RLC SDU to be passed to a higher layer.
