  • Publication number: 20110094353
Abstract: A nail set includes a body portion and a tool portion. The body portion includes an opening formed therein. The tool portion includes a first work portion at one end portion thereof, and a second work portion at an opposite end portion thereof. The first work portion and the second work portion are constructed and arranged to be interchangeably received in the opening. The tool portion includes an outwardly extending shoulder portion between the first work portion and the second work portion. The outwardly extending shoulder portion is constructed and arranged to provide a path for force transmitted from the body portion, when the tool portion is disposed in the body portion and the body portion is impacted by a tool.

  • Publication number: 20100199809
Abstract: A hammer includes a handle and a head. The head is disposed on an upper portion of the handle. The hammer includes an overall length dimension. A ratio of the overall length dimension to the surface area of the striking surface of the head is less than 11.0. The head also includes a striking surface at one end thereof and a head weight. The head may be integrally formed with the upper portion of the handle, wherein a ratio of the head weight to the surface area of the striking surface of the head is less than 16.25. The head may alternatively be mounted on the upper portion of the handle, wherein a ratio of the head weight to the surface area of the striking surface of the head is less than 14.0. The head can have a ratio of radial measurements that is less than 1.0.

  • Publication number: 20090119936
Abstract: A plane includes a plane body having an opening positioned in a bottom surface of the plane body, an angled support structure carried by the plane body, a blade supported by the angled support structure, the blade having an edge positionable to protrude from the opening, and a lateral stabilizer constructed and arranged to inhibit a lateral movement of the blade while permitting a longitudinal movement of the blade. The blade adjuster is operatively connected with the blade and longitudinally moves the blade so as to control a distance that the edge of the blade protrudes through the opening and laterally moves the blade so as to control an angle of the edge of the blade relative to the bottom surface of the plane body.

  • Publication number: 20090071298
Abstract: A hand-actuated bar clamp apparatus is disclosed which provides a high level of holding power or force on a workpiece. The bar clamp includes first and second jaws that are movably coupled to a bar. The first jaw includes a drive lever that engages the bar and a trigger that drives the drive lever to move the bar relative to the first jaw. A brake mechanism is contained within the first jaw to prevent it from moving in the opposite direction. The second jaw includes a push-button release assembly and a stop mechanism actuated by the push-button release assembly. The stop mechanism frictionally engages the second jaw to the bar when the second jaw is not under load.

  • Patent number: 7389978
Abstract: A jaw for a bar clamp and a method of using a bar clamp, the bar clamp including a trigger having a first force applying mechanism to apply a first force against the drive lever at a first point on the drive lever that is remote from the bar as the trigger pivots with respect to the main section to provide low mechanical advantage to the drive lever. The trigger also having a second force applying mechanism to apply a second force against the drive lever at a second point on the drive lever that is closer to the bar than the first point as the trigger pivots with respect to the main section to provide high mechanical advantage to the drive lever.

  • Patent number: 7111376
Abstract: A tool includes first and second elongated members, each member having a handle portion at one end and a jaw portion at an opposite end. Intermediate portions of the members are movably coupled to one another. Movement of the handle portions opens and closes the jaw portions. Each jaw portion includes a gripping surface configured to grip a workpiece. A pair of blade members are rigidly secured to the jaw portions, each blade member having a cutting edge.
