  • Patent number: 5554439
Abstract: Described is a coating composition comprising a liquid medium containing a titanium dioxide pigment and a coating film formation resin said titanium dioxide pigment being in the form of flaky or fin-like small pieces of silicon dioxide covered by titanium dioxide and having a diameter of 1 to 300 microns and a thickness of 0.001 to 1 micron, a considerable portion of said silicon dioxide being dissolved out from said titanium dioxide-coated silicon dioxide small pieces.

  • Patent number: 5420177
Abstract: A method for producing colored and exactly spherical fine-grains of polymer by carrying out the suspension and polymerization of ethylenic unsaturated monomers containing a pigment in water under the presence of a suspension stabilizer, wherein an inorganic pigment treated with silane-coupling agent is used as said pigment. According to the present invention, the pigments are homogeneously dispersed in said exactly spherical fine-grains of polymer and a loss of color is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5087058
Abstract: Disclosed is a metal gasket for a manifold produced by laminating a plurality of bead plates having bead portions which are bent at a predetermined radius of curvature R and by setting the ratio R/t of the radius of curvature R to the thickness t of the bead plates to the range of 7 to 15. Therefore, the radius of curvature of the bent portions of the bead plates to the thickness can be made relatively great and the bent portions of the bead plates become smooth. As a result, when the metal gasket is tightened between a cylinder head and an exhaust manifold, the contact portions of the bead plates are expanded and the stress and face-to-face pressure occurring at the contact portions can be reduced. Accordingly, the stress acting on the bead plates can be made lower than a reference value, the increase of the facet-face pressure can be restricted to within a predetermined range and the stress and face-to-face pressure of the bead portions forming a seal surface can be kept within suitable ranges.

  • Patent number: 5059639
Abstract: A method for producing a matt paint which comprises the steps of choosing a particle size of 1 to 100 .mu.m from exactly spherical acrylic particles colored by pigment, and blending them into a paint vehicle. According to the present invention, a colored film of the matt paint can be formed, and the surface of the film shows a soft feel without stickiness.
