  • Publication number: 20030010462
Abstract: A method of producing a pulp molded article is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: feeding a pulp slurry to a cavity (4) of a papermaking mold (1) having a prescribed cavity shape to form a pulp preform (7) comprising a main part (7a) having an opening and a separable part (7b) having a flange (7c) and connected to the edge of the opening; inserting a pressing member (8) into the preform (7); expanding the pressing member (8) to press the preform (7) toward the papermaking surface; removing the preform (7) from the papermaking mold (1); and then cutting the preform (7) at a joint between the separable part (7b) and the main part (7a).

  • Publication number: 20030009903
Abstract: A drying mold 1 for a pulp molded article has a first mold member 10, a second mold member 20, and a third mold member 30. The first mold member 10 has a drying portion 12 and first passageways 13a and 13b connecting the drying portion 12 to an exterior surface of the first mold member 10. The second mold member 20 has a prescribed heating means and is disposed in contact with the exterior surface of the third mold member 30. The third mold member 30 is disposed in contact with the exterior surface of the first mold member 10. The drying mold 1 is designed to form second passageways 2a and 2b between the first and the third mold members when the first and the third mold members are disposed in contact with each other. The passageways 2a and 2b connect the first passageways 13a and 13b to the outside of the drying mold 1.

  • Publication number: 20020150896
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of diabetes. More particularly, it concerns the identification of genes responsible for NIDDM1 for use in diagnostic and therapeutic applications. The present invention demonstrates that the NIDDM1 locus is, in fact, the calpain 10 gene. The invention further relates to the discovery that analysis of mutations in calpain genes and gene products can be diagnostic for type 2 diabetes. The invention also contemplates methods of treating diabetes in view of the fact that calpain mutations can cause diabetes. Further, the invention relates to novel polynucleotides of the NIDDM1 locus and polypeptides encoded by such polynucleotides.

  • Patent number: 4960642
Abstract: Pellets for making electromagnetic wave shielding material and a method for manufacturing the same are provided in which a desired number of conductive fibers of a desired length are impregnated with thermoplastic resin oligomer to provide an integral unit and then the thermoplastic resin is coated on the outside of the integral unit. The pellets are excellent in a dispersion of the conductive fibers in the thermoplastic resin, greater in aspect ratio, and excellent for use in making a shielding material against electric and magnetic fields.
