  • Publication number: 20030009648
Abstract: A processor supports logical partitioning of hardware resources including real address spaces of a computer system. An ultra-privileged supervisor process, called a hypervisor, regulates the logical partitions and can dynamically re-allocate resources. Preferably, the processor supports hardware multithreading, each thread independently capable of being in either hypervisor, supervisor, or problem state. The processor assigns certain generated addresses to its logical partition, preferably by concatenating certain high order bits from a special register with lower order bits of the generated address. A separate range check mechanism concurrently verifies that these high order effective address bits are in fact 0, and generates an error signal if they are not.

  • Patent number: 6438671
Abstract: A processor supports logical partitioning of a computer system. Logical partitions isolate the real address spaces of processes executing on different processors and the hardware resources that include processors. However, this multithreaded processor system can dynamically reallocate hardware resources including the processors among logical partitions. An ultra-privileged supervisor process, called a hypervisor, regulates the logical partitions.

  • Patent number: 5950994
Abstract: A vibration isolating apparatus includes a first mounting member; a second mounting member having a through hole; an elastic body provided to be elastically deformable and mounted in such a manner as to be interposed between the first mounting member and the second mounting member; a liquid chamber of which at least a portion of a partition wall is formed of the elastic body and the second mounting member and which is filled with a liquid; and an elastic membrane provided to be elastically deformable and fixed to a portion of the second mounting member forming the partition wall of the liquid chamber so as to cover the through hole. Accordingly, even when vibration of a high frequency which cannot be damped by the elastic body and a liquid is transmitted from the side of a vibration-generating portion, the elastic membrane elastically deforms and the dynamic spring constant becomes low. As a result, vibration is not easily transmitted to the side of a vibration-receiving portion.

  • Patent number: 5737753
Abstract: In a high speed main frame computer system, a high speed instruction processor is provided with a high speed cache memory. The cache memory is provided with a plurality of associated memories including a tag memory. Every time the instruction processor attempts to access the cache memory, a cache set address is generated which accesses the associated memories to provide most recently used (MRU) block information, validity information and degrade block information. The accessed information is applied as inputs to a cache logic system. The cache logic system logically modifies the information to generate an update of the MRU information and writes the modified MRU information into the MRU associated memory at the set address without control or supervision on the part of the instruction processor. The cache logic system also generates the least recently used (LRU) block coded information using the MRU information, validity information and degraded block information for cache block replacement.

  • Patent number: 5609024
Abstract: An exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine is capable of stably introducing secondary air and heating a catalyst at the same time without increasing an amount of discharge current from the battery. When the internal combustion engine 1 is started, the output terminal A of a generator 10 is electrically connected to the first contact 51 of a switching relay 50 through an output switching circuit 33 and the output terminal A of the generator 10 is electrically isolated from a second contact 52 . As a result, when the internal combustion engine 1 is started, since a current output from the generator 10 is supplied to the motor 8 of a secondary air introduction unit 6 and the heating element 3 of a catalytic converter 4, the power of a battery 20 is consumed only by a plurality of electric loads and is not consumed by the motor 8 and the heating element 3.

  • Patent number: 5530823
Abstract: A virtual memory computing system is provided with a novel table-look-aside-buffer (TLB). The table-look-aside-buffer is located in cache memory and provides high speed verification that a page address being accessed by the instruction processor is present in the high speed mass storage unit (MSU) of the computer system. In the event of a page miss in the TLB, the control circuits associated with the TLB fetch a page descriptor and generate a translated real page address which is stored in the TLB in an invalidated (decelerated) or non-degraded and least recently used address.

  • Patent number: 5432747
Abstract: A self-timing clock generator for use with a precharged Static Random Access Memory (SRAM). The invention asynchronously switches the memory clock pulse to a precharge signal upon recognition of completion of a memory access cycle. Recognition of completion of the memory access cycle is performed in one of two ways. The first method monitors for the existence of a preprogrammed memory-completion bit which becomes active at the same time that read or write data becomes valid at the data outputs. The second method monitors for the existence of a memory-completion bit generated through the use of an odd parity generator. An alternate clocking method is provided to bypass the asynchronous self-timing clock generator, and to allow for synchronous clocking of the precharged SRAM. An external clocking method is also provided to directly clock the precharged SRAM.
