Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit for forming an image on a recording medium, a command unit for commanding image forming conditions, a first switch for connecting a power source to the apparatus, a first detector for detecting an operational position of the first switch, a second switch for enabling the first switch to connect the power source to the apparatus, a second detector for detecting an operational position of the second switch, and a memory having microprograms stored therein for operatively controlling loads on the image forming unit. The operation of the image forming unit is controlled by signals derived from the first and second detectors and the microprograms.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus including image forming device, for forming an image on a recording member, having a scanner for scanning the recording member, an input device for selecting and instructing the function mode of the scanner, and a controller having a plurality of stored programs corresponding to the scanning modes for controlling the function of the image forming device, the controller being adapted to select a stored program in response to the input device and controlling the function of the image forming device in accordance with the program of the selected scanning mode.

Abstract: A temperature control system comprises a heat sink heatable upon application of electric power thereto, an AC power source for heating the heat sink, temperature detector means for detecting the temperature of the heat sink, and control means for controlling the electric power applied to the heat sink in accordance with an output signal from the detector means so that the heat sink maintains its required temperature. The control means is operable to cause application of a full power of the power source to the heat sink at the initial heating stage thereof and application of a partial power of the power source to the heat sink when the temperature thereof is in the vicinity of the required temperature.
