Patent number: 9133292Abstract: Hydroxyl functional oil polyol acrylic graft copolymers are disclosed which can be used to produce coating compositions and coated surfaces. In some embodiments, the coating compositions are used to coat substrates such as packaging materials and the like for the storage of food and beverages. The hydroxyl functional oil polyol acrylic graft copolymers can be prepared by heating an epoxidized vegetable oil and a hydroxyl functional material in the presence of an acid catalyst to form a hydroxyl functional oil polyol, and reacting the hydroxyl functional oil polyol with a mixture of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer component in the presence of an initiator to form the hydroxyl functional oil polyol acrylic graft copolymer. Coating compositions can be prepared by crosslinking the hydroxyl functional oil polyol acrylic graft copolymers with a crosslinker.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2010Date of Patent: September 15, 2015Assignee: AKZO NOBEL COATINGS INTERNATIONAL B.V.Inventors: Gary P. Craun, Guy J. Stella, Kenneth J. Gardner, David J. Telford

Patent number: 5405404Abstract: An apparatus for disassembling a head and acetabular component of a bipolar orthopedic hip prosthesis. The head includes a female taper configured for engaging a corresponding male taper of a femoral component of a hip prosthesis. The acetabular component includes a cavity in which the head is elastically constrained. The apparatus includes a rod having a male taper at one end thereof sized and configured to be received in taper locking engagement in the female taper of the head of the bipolar prosthesis. The rod has external threads that engage internal threads of a sleeve surrounding the rod. The sleeve includes a thrust surface at one end that engages the acetabular component as the sleeve is rotated relative to the rod. The sleeve causes the acetabular component to be pressed off of the head while the head remains taper locked to the rod. Continued rotation of the sleeve causes the head to be pressed off of the taper of the rod.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1993Date of Patent: April 11, 1995Assignee: Intermedics Orthopedics, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth J.
