  • Publication number: 20070203454
Abstract: A system and method for a patch-like, self-contained substance infusion device which provides one or more substantially hidden patient needles which can be placed in fluid communication with a fluid reservoir subassembly that includes a rigid bladder portion used in conjunction with a non-distensible bladder film, such as a metallized film. Simple removal of an interlock allows a disk, or Belleville spring assembly to apply an essentially even and constant pressure to the contents of the fluid reservoir assembly, and allows the device to then be attached to a skin surface via an adhesive contact surface. A push button activation assembly is provided which can then be used to release and seat one or more spring-loaded patient needles into the skin surface, and establish a fluid communication path between the patient needles and the pressurized fluid reservoir contents thereby delivering an infusion into the skin.

  • Publication number: 20070156086
Abstract: A fluid delivery device for delivering a substance to a patient by way of infusion delivers the preparation at a rate of flow which varies in steps from a substantially constant higher rate, to a stepped-down substantially constant lower rate or rates. The delivery device includes one or more reservoirs, and one or more Belleville springs for applying generally constant pressures to the substance contained in the reservoirs. Each reservoir will have a different constant pressure applied in a mid-range of operation. The reservoirs can be interconnected to each other and to an infusion device in a number of arrangements, including various manifolds and flow restrictors, such that the rate of flow is controlled in steps in accordance with the pressures applied by the springs of the plurality of reservoirs.

  • Publication number: 20070095424
Abstract: A retainer for filling and sealing containers having one or more flexible sides which has features for filling semi-flexible containers is disclosed. Non-standard containers for holding fluid are releasably supported during the filling and sealing process. Both the interior and exterior of the filled container are subjected to an environment of reduced pressure to minimize the headspace and sealed.

  • Publication number: 20060197004
Abstract: A device, preferably a micro-device, is molded from a plastic material by injection molding, compression molding or embossing. A microabrader can be molded having microneedles for abrading the stratum corneum of the skin to form an abraded site in the tissue for enhancing drug delivery. The micro-device is molded using a mold assembly having a silicon molding surface. The silicon molding surface can include a recess corresponding to the desired shape and length of the microneedles. The silicon molding surface enables micron and submicron size features to be molded from polymeric materials without the polymeric material adhering to the mold surface. Micro-devices having molded features having micron and submicron dimensions can be rapidly produced without the use of a release agent.

  • Publication number: 20060106346
Abstract: A system and method for a patch-like, self-contained multi-component substance infusion device which provides one or more substantially hidden patient needles which can be placed in fluid communication with a fluid reservoir assembly that includes a rigid bladder portion used in conjunction with a non-distensible bladder film, such as a metallized film. The device can be attached to a skin surface via an adhesive contact and a pressurization system provides a pressure to the contents of a fluid reservoir assembly. Improvements to dry powdered formulations for reconstitution for preferred use in the device are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6538239
Abstract: A magnetic heating device comprising three electrical coils, each coil being wound around a respective magnetic yoke having a gap therein, the three yokes being arranged such that the gaps are adjacent to each other or coincident, an article to be heated being located, in use, in the gaps in the three yokes, so as to direct the magnrtic field generated in each yoke by its respective coil through the articles, each coil being connected to a respective different phase of a three phase low frequency alternating electrical supply, and one of the coils being wound in the opposite direction to the other two coil.

  • Patent number: 6019348
Abstract: A quick-connect coupling assembly, and method of making same, for connecting a fuel fill pipe to a fuel tank made of a polyethylene based material. A mounting bracket subassembly has a base molded of such tank-type material that is plastic welded to the tank fill opening margin. A second more stable plastic material also is used in the bracket not only to anchor the connection between the fuel tank and the fill pipe and to provide the necessary resistance to pull force against disconnection, but also to contain the polyethylene bracket material in such a way as to minimize geometric (dimensional) changes due to fuel absorption and creep in the critical region of the connection that contains the O-ring seals or like sealing elements.

  • Patent number: 4873643
Abstract: The present invention is an interactive design terminal for custom imprinted articles. A memory stores a plurality of print design elements and a set of design rules for combination of the design elements in accordance with selections made by an operator. The interactive design terminal presents an ordered sequence of print design choices to the operator via a video display and perferably stores the results of the operator selections. The interactive design terminal provides a display of the operator selections, preferably in a graphics display of a depiction of the resulting imprinted article, and detects conflicts between operator selections.
