    Abstract: An electronic communication device comprises echo cancellation circuitry and signal modification circuitry. The echo cancellation circuitry may be operable to generate a first signal that approximates interference present in a second signal. The signal modification circuitry may be operable to generate a first cancellation signal in a frequency band that is not used on a communication medium over which the electronic communication device is configured to communicate. The signal modification circuitry may be operable to combine the first cancellation signal with the first signal, wherein the combining of the signals results in a modified first signal that has a lower crest factor and/or peak-to-average power ratio than the first signal. The signal modification circuitry may be operable to combine the modified first signal with the second signal to reduce interference present in the second signal.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for utilizing remote spectrum analysis of transmit bands in communication systems. A transmit band spectrum corresponding to a transmit band used in transmitting signals may be captured. The captured transmit band spectrum may be processed, and based on such processing presence of noise, distortion, interference, etc. in the transmit band spectrum may be detected, wherein the noise, distortion, interference, etc. may be introduced by one or more other systems sharing a medium used in the transmitting of the signals. One or more characteristic associated with each instance of detected noise, distortion, interference, etc. may be determined. Reporting information, related to the detection of noise, distortion, interference, etc. and/or to the determined one or more characteristics associated with each instance of detected noise, distortion, interference, etc., may be determined, and the reported information may be sent to at least one remote system.

During reception of downstream signals, echo effects on downstream signals may be determined, with at least some of the echo effects corresponding to concurrently transmitted upstream signals. Echo cancellation corrections may be determined based on the determined echo effects, and the echo cancellation corrections may be applied during processing of the downstream signals. The echo cancellation corrections may include one or both of ACI (adjacent channel interference) cancellation corrections and ALI (adjacent leakage interference) cancellation correction. The echo cancellation may include or be based on preforming echo cancellation training, during active communication and based on one or both of the downstream signals and the upstream signals.

    Abstract: A cancellation system that delays received Global Positioning System (“GPS”) signals and cancels less than all of the received GPS signals from the delayed version of the received GPS signals. A delay circuit produces a delayed version of the received GPS signals and a demodulator and despreader unit produces a demodulated and despread GPS signal corresponding to one of the received GPS signals. A respreader and remodulator unit produces a remodulated and respread GPS signal from the demodulated and despread GPS signal and a combiner produces a combined GPS signal from the delayed version of the received GPS signals and the remodulated and respread GPS signal. The cancellation system and method may also store the received GPS signals and cancel less than all the received GPS signals from the stored version of the received GPS signals.

    Abstract: The current disclosure is directed toward part or all digital phase lock loop circuits, particularly those containing divide by N circuits between the voltage controlled oscillator and the phase detector. These divide by N circuits many times contain long logic count down chains. In power sensitive applications the amount of power dissipated by these divide by N circuits may be significant. The current disclosure is directed to apparatus and methods of cycling these divide by N circuits between enabled and disabled to conserve power. The changing of the enabled/disabled frequency and the duty cycle of the disabling of the divider is contemplated, as are the various ancillary factors that might be considered in determining this frequency and duty cycle. Stabilization of the loop is considered as is the changing of gain of the phase lock loop in order to improve operation as the dividers are enabled and disabled.
