  • Patent number: 5063067
Abstract: A high moisture, high energy liquid feed supplement and concentrate for animals (ruminants, cattles) is disclosed which is capable of remaining in stable suspension while containing a high porportion of fat. The suspension is maintained by salts of fatty acids formed in the added fat. Formation of the fatty acid salts is produced by reacting an aqueous base with the fat at an elevated temperature to form the fatty acid salts therein and subsequently adding the additional materials therein.

  • Patent number: 4408565
Abstract: A feed dispenser which is eminently suitable for wild bird feeding may be collapsed to a compact condition for shipment and storage and readily erected for feed dispensing. The feed dispenser or feeder is comprised of a bottom tray with foldably connected end walls, a cover which is releasably supported by the end walls in the erected condition and a replaceable feed container which may be positioned on the feed dispenser tray and then caused to dispense the feed.

  • Patent number: 4393087
Abstract: A process for the production of a floating aquatic food pellet is disclosed which avoids the use of extrusion-expansion equipment to provide floatability. Conventional pelleting equipment may be used to produce a pellet from farinaceous-proteinaceous mixtures, which contains sufficient expanded grain particles to provide buoyancy or floatability. A hardenable or vitrifiable matrix containing a liquid carbohydrate material, a water soluble phosphorous source, a colloid material and an alkaline earth oxide is included to prevent compaction of the expanded grain particles during pelleting and provide structural integrity and floatability to permit feeding by an aquatic species.

  • Patent number: 4311713
Abstract: A composition for limiting feed supplement intake for animals is disclosed which comprises an acidulated fat, wherein acidulation of the fat is carried out at a temperature of at least about 220.degree. F. with an acid, preferably a mineral acid. The acidulated fat can be incorporated into the feed supplement at a level exceeding 1.5% by weight to control intake or combined with other intake limiters such as meat meal, diammonium phosphate, and ammonium sulfate for intake control. This composition controls feed supplement intake by the animal when added thereto, permitting self-rationed feeding without waste.

  • Patent number: 4285974
Abstract: A liquid feed composition for cattle is disclosed which is capable of controlling consumption by cattle to a desired level without the use of equipment for this purpose. The liquid feed composition includes an intake limiting amount of an acidulated fat wherein acidulation of the fat is carried out at a temperature of at least about 220.degree. F. with a mineral acid.

  • Patent number: 4234604
Abstract: A composition for limiting feed supplement intake for ruminants is disclosed which comprises a chlorinated fat having a reacted chlorine content in an amount effective to limit intake or usually between about 0.2 and 7.0% by weight of said fat. The chlorinated fat can be incorporated into a feed supplement at a level effective to limit intake, preferably at a level exceeding 1.0% by weight, in addition to being employed with other intake limiters such as meat meal, diammonium phosphate, and ammonium sulfate in a feed supplement for intake control. The noted composition controls feed supplement intake by ruminants when added thereto permitting self-rationed feeding without waste.

  • Patent number: 4225621
Abstract: A composition for limiting feed supplement intake for cattle is disclosed which comprises at least one member of a group of compounds, including mixtures of these compounds, having the formula: ##STR1## in which R is a C.sub.9 to C.sub.17 saturated aliphatic group and R.sup.1 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl such a methyl, ethyl, propyl, or a cation such as sodium or potassium together with meat meal, diammonium phosphate, and ammonium sulfate. Furthermore, a compound of the above general type, has been found to control feed supplement intake in cattle without the additional intake limiting ingredients. These compositions control feed supplement intake by cattle upon addition to the feed supplement, thereby permitting self-rationed feeding to the cattle without waste, yet providing the right degree of weight maintenance for the animal.
