    Abstract: A reconstruction processing method. The method includes an image updating step (Step S2) of updating a reconstruction image by an iterative approximation method, and a weighting coefficient map updating step (Step S4). In the weighting coefficient map updating step, a weighting coefficient map relative to prior knowledge is generated from the reconstruction image obtained by updating an image in the image updating step (Step S2), and a weighting coefficient of the prior knowledge relative to each pixel is controlled in accordance with the weighting coefficient map, whereby a weighting coefficient map is updated. As described above, the weighting coefficient map relative to the prior knowledge is generated from the reconstruction image (during estimation) obtained by updating the image, and the weighting coefficient of the prior knowledge relative to each pixel is controlled in accordance with the weighting coefficient map.

    Abstract: The image reconstruction processing method estimates, in a substance information estimation process, substance information from a reconstructed image for every image update in an image update process, and uses the estimated substance information to update images based on succeeding calculations by successive approximation formulae of a successive approximation method. Since the substance information is estimated, the present methodology can be applied regardless of whether the constituent substance of an imaging sample is known. Further, because the substance information is estimated (updated) from the reconstructed image for every image update in the image update process, reliable substance information can be estimated by avoiding the problem of continuously using the substance information estimated at a point of time where a repeat count (iteration count) by successive approximation formulae is low and at a point of time where the repeat count is high.

The degradation product peak P3 appears in a region on the low-molecular-weight side relative to the 18S peak P1 in accordance with degradation of RNA after RNA has degraded to the extent that the 18S peak P1 disappears, and shifts to the low-molecular-weight side as the RNA degrades. Therefore, even for a degraded RNA, the quality can be evaluated with high accuracy on the basis of the feature value corresponding to the position of this degradation product peak P3.
