  • Patent number: 8875707
Abstract: A trans-fill method and system comprising obtaining therapeutic gas from a therapeutic gas source, compressing the therapeutic gas from the therapeutic gas source in at least two stages to create an intermediate therapeutic gas stream and a high pressure therapeutic gas stream, supplying therapeutic gas to a patient from the intermediate therapeutic gas stream, and filling a cylinder with the therapeutic gas from the high pressure therapeutic gas stream substantially simultaneously with supplying therapeutic gas to the patient.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 31, 2011
Date of Patent: November 4, 2014
    Assignee: Respironics, Inc.
Inventors: Alonzo C. Aylsworth, Kevin G. McCulloh
  • Patent number: 7972414
Abstract: A method and system of operating a trans-fill device. At least some of the illustrative embodiments are methods comprising generating an enriched gas stream from atmospheric air, and operating an intensifier which, when provided the enriched gas stream, produces a cylinder fill gas stream. The operating continues in the absence of the enriched gas stream being provided to the intensifier.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 26, 2008
Date of Patent: July 5, 2011
    Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.

  • Patent number: 5915834
Abstract: Apparatus for mixing two gasses, at least one of which contains oxygen, to a desired concentration of oxygen, comprising a mixing plenum, an inlet valve, for admitting one of the two gasses into the mixing plenum, an oxygen sensor for detecting oxygen concentration of mixed gasses in the mixing plenum and in response generating an output signal representative thereof, and a controller for receiving the output signal and a user input representing the desired concentration of oxygen, comparing the oxygen concentration of the mixed gasses represented by the output signal to the desired concentration of oxygen, and in response controlling the inlet valve to regulate flow of respective ones of the two gasses into the mixing plenum and thereby maintain the desired concentration of oxygen.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 9, 1997
Date of Patent: June 29, 1999
    Assignee: Litton Systems, Inc.
    Inventor: Kevin G. McCulloh
  • Patent number: 5549736
Abstract: A modular, pneumatically parallel arrangement of sieve beds for a pressure swing adsorption gas concentration apparatus is described. A manifold head structure having a plurality of ports, channels and components which are connected together forms the pneumatic circuit for the pressure swing adsorption process. The manifold structures are arranged so as to be simply connected together to modularly form a pressure swing adsorption apparatus of the desired capacity.
