Patent number: 8905384Abstract: A room humidifying apparatus is provided which operates with minimum cost and without any electrical power. The humidifier is located so as to make use of a stream of air coming from a register. The humidifier has a casing carrying a main water tank, a water pan and an evaporative filter element which are located in the casing. The tank drips water onto the filter element, which has a lower portion located in the water pan to collect any excess water dripping down the filter element and also to moisten it with capillary effect. Heated air from the register becomes humidified on passing through the filter element. The water tank can be filled manually from the top or be detachable and filled through a bottom refill opening. Alternatively, the water tank can be connected to a water source with a valve to regulate the flow of water into the water tank. The water tank may be balanced so as to displace, for example tilt, from a first position when it contains water to a second position when it is empty.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2012Date of Patent: December 9, 2014Inventors: Jeri Rodrigs, James Henderson, Kevin J. Publication number: 20140142676Abstract: A headband for retaining electrodes in position on a patient's head is disclosed, having an adjustable frame, straps for holding electrodes against the head, each strap fastened to the headband by an adjustable support, and the supports having weights removably coupled thereto such that gravity pulls the headband down against the electrodes. The headband may be used for transcranial electrical stimulation treatment or other treatment by electrodes. Further disclosed is a method of retaining electrodes on a patient's head, having the steps of positioning a headband having straps on the head, tightening the headband and straps, inserting electrodes between the straps of the headband and the head, mounting weights to bias the headband downwardly, and loosening the straps for greater comfort. The headband and straps may have markings to facilitate placement according to an electrode marking system.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2012Publication date: May 22, 2014Applicant: NorDocs Technologies Inc.Inventors: Paul Gardin, Daniel Shapiro, Patrick D.H. Publication number: 20120255628Abstract: A check valve access chamber is provided that is capable of forming a sealed enclosure against or around a self-contained check valve assembly so as to maintain a continuous barrier against moisture, waste water, and sewage gases during normal operation or under backflow situations. The access chamber may also include an angled floor and/or angled pipe flanges to add or maintain a grade across the sewer pipe or the self-contained check valve assembly to ensure adequate flow to meet or exceed building code standards. Access chambers of this type permit a labour-saving method of installing a check valve comprising the steps of connecting an access chamber having an access sleeve to a self-contained check valve assembly; connecting the self-contained check valve assembly to an inlet pipe and an outlet pipe; backfilling around the access chamber to a desired grade; and trimming the access sleeve to a desired height relative to the desired grade.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 5, 2012Publication date: October 11, 2012Applicant: Back Water Boot Inc.Inventors: Payk Pourzynal, Mark Girimonte, James Henderson, Kevin J. Patent number: 5881676Abstract: A pet animal living structure with an upward extending body and floor surfaces at different heights. The latter are arranged in two pluralities with a second plurality being disposed in a different vertical plane from the first. Floor surfaces of the second plurality provide access between floor surfaces of the first plurality which have a wall barrier between them. The structure causes an animal to move in three dimensions throughout the structure along an indefinite number of paths. Alternatively, a freestanding structure is provided which faces in different horizontal directions with the floor surfaces extending around the structure. As a further alternative, a structure is provided with floor surfaces interconnected by steps and apertures and which may be suspended within an aquarium.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1996Date of Patent: March 16, 1999Inventors: Michael Brown, Kevin J. Patent number: 5832876Abstract: The invention is concerned with a pet animal structure for insertion into a transparent tank. The structure is in a single piece with upper and lower body parts. The lower body part has floors for movement of the animal and the upper body part has a shoulder which overhangs the lower body part. The upper body part when the structure is inserted an appropriate size tank, closes and extends into the top opening to the tank with the shoulder below the top opening so as to protect top regions of walls of the tank. Preferably, the upper body part has a downward facing support surface for supporting the structure upon a top edge of the tank so that the bottom of the structure is spaced from the bottom of the tank. Also advantageously, the floors are positioned to prevent the animal from gnawing at the shoulder while providing freedom for the animal to move between the structure and the tank when standing upon the bottom of the tank.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1997Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Inventors: Michael Brown, Kevin J. Patent number: 5704117Abstract: An EMI shield for a component mounted upon a printed circuit board. The shield is an open sided box made from plastic insulating material supporting an electrically conductive shield layer. A surrounding flange is provided by the plastic at the open side of the box, the flange having a surface facing outwards in the same direction as the open side. The conductive shield layer extends onto the outward facing surface.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1996Date of Patent: January 6, 1998Assignee: Northern Telecom LimitedInventors: Henry W.C. Mok, Kevin J. Patent number: 5368574Abstract: A percutaneous catheter introducer having a tube with tube handle, a seal housing containing a seal, and a needle with a needle handle. The needle is extended through the seal housing and tube. The needle and tube are percutaneously inserted into an anatomical body cavity. The needle is removed and a catheter is inserted. The seal housing can be removed in order to use the tube for aspiration. Alternatively, the seal is positioned within the tube handle.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1992Date of Patent: November 29, 1994Assignee: Ethicon, Inc.Inventors: Anthony C. Antonacci, Robert C.
