  • Patent number: 5302637
Abstract: There are provided novel miscible blend compositions comprising (a) a cellulose ester and (b) a vinylphenol containing polymer. The blends do not exhibit large scale phase separation and provide properties which are essentially intermediate between those of either cellulose ester or vinylphenol containing polymers. The blends are useful for both molded and film applications as well as for coatings.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 22, 1992
Date of Patent: April 12, 1994
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Christine J. T. Landry, David M. Teegarden, Kevin J. Edgar, Stephen S. Kelley
  • Patent number: 5292877
Abstract: Water soluble cellulose acetoacetates prepared by contacting a cellulose material with diketene, an alkyl acetoacetate, 2,2,6-trimethyl-4H-1,3-dioxin-4-one or a mixture thereof in a solvent system comprising lithium chloride plus a carboxamide. Compositions containing the cellulose acetoacetates and, optionally, a crosslinking agent are useful for coatings applications.

  • Patent number: 4997946
Abstract: A method of iodinating hydroxyaromatic and aminoaromatic compounds is disclosed, comprising reacting the hydroxyaromatic or aminoaromatic compound with an aqueous solution of a metal iodide and a metal hypochlorite at a temperature about -100.degree. to 100.degree. C. in the presence of an alcohol having 1-10 carbon atoms.
