  • Patent number: 8746548
Abstract: Multi-dimensional barcodes at a product include service identifiers for the product so that an end user with a portable information handling system captures an image of the multi-dimensional barcode and extracts the service identifiers to obtain service information from a service network location. For example, a service identifier embeds a URL that links to a video demonstrating how to assemble the product. As another example, a service identifier links to a service network location and includes a unique identifier so that an end user retrieves warranty or purchase information for the product. In one embodiment, a chassis supports plural information handling system modules and present information for the modules with QR codes displayed at a chassis-wide dynamic fault code display.

  • Publication number: 20140104780
Abstract: A disk drive carrier includes a frame and a shuttle. The frame includes supports configured to be in physical communication with a disk drive, a first index tab to align the disk drive with a connector on a backplane of a server tray, and an arm configured to engage the disk drive with the connector in a horizontal orientation. The shuttle includes a base including a channel, edges extending from the base and forming an enclosure to receive the frame and the disk drive in a vertical orientation, a fastener connected to the server tray through the channel, and an alignment key configured to slide along the first index tab and to align the disk drive with the connector. The disk drive shuttle is configured to horizontally move along the server tray and to enable the disk drive to connect with the connector in the horizontal orientation.

  • Publication number: 20140029191
Abstract: A connection arm couples to a cooling fan main body to enclose wires extending from the main body to an end of the connection arm that holds a plug of the wires in a position aligned with a circuit board cooling fan socket. Wires enclosed in the connection arm slip through a slot along the side of the connection arm and are protected from view by a cable cover disposed along the top surface of the cooling fan and connection arm.

  • Patent number: 8339780
Abstract: A connector for a disk drive unit includes a base, a curve portion, a tab, a support, a hook, and a first spring arm. The base has a left portion, a right portion, a bottom portion, and a top portion. The curve portion extends from a back of the top portion of the base. The tab is adapted to be inserted into a retention opening of a static wall of a server. The support extends substantially horizontally from an opposite end of the curve portion, and is adapted to flex up and down when the tab is inserted into the retention opening of the static wall of the server. The hook is physically connected between the support and the tab, and is adapted to flex the support when the hook pressed into contact with a top of the retention opening, and to snap fit around the top of the retention opening when the connector is completely inserted into the retention opening.
