  • Patent number: 5540067
Abstract: A device for deterring theft of a steering wheel mounted airbag and an automobile comprises a cover configured to generally cover a substantial portion of a steering wheel so as to inhibit access to an airbag mounted within the steering wheel, and also so as to inhibit use of the steering wheel. A lock inhibits removal of the cover when the lock is in the locked configuration thereof and facilitates removal of the cover when the lock is in the unlocked configuration thereof. Thus, the device deters theft of the airbag by preventing a thief from having access thereto and deters theft of the automobile by preventing the thief from driving the automobile.

  • Patent number: 5490998
Abstract: In a method for preparing grain cake health food, a crunchy grain component is prepared separately from a water-saturated meat and/or bone component. The grain cake is prepared according to the steps of: providing grain powder; mixing the grain powder with salt, water, and starch to provide a first mixture; cooking the first mixture to form a cake; pressing the cake to form a cake bar; and freeze drying the cake bar to remove a quantity of water therefrom. The cake bar is partially cooked so as to resist water absorption during storage and becomes fully cooked during final preparation for consumption. At least one of meat and bone is separately prepared according to the steps of: providing at least one of meat and bone; mixing at least one of meat and bone with salt and water to produce a second mixture; cooking the second mixture to form a broth; and cooling the broth. The cake bar and broth are mixed together so as to form a soup and the soup is then dispensed into a container.

  • Patent number: 5415458
Abstract: A mechanism to lock the driver seat in a vehicle in a forward position to prevent a thief from getting on the seat and driving away in the vehicle. The seat adjuster is positioned such that the seat back portion is at an angle with the horizontal seat portion. A lock mechanism mounted on the seat back plate and either manually or electronically operated, causes a lock pin to enter coaligned apertures formed in the front and back plates of the seat adjuster, an intermediate plate member preventing the seat back portion from being moved. In order to enable the seat adjuster to resume its normal operation, the locking pin is withdrawn from the coaligned apertures.

  • Patent number: 5355605
Abstract: A display device is formed of thin plastic sheet material extending about a peripheral frame. The frame is formed of a relatively stiff annular core element encapsulated within a resilient foam sheath or shell. In attaching the plastic sheet to the annular frame, edge areas of the sheet are wrapped about the surface of the rubber shell so that the shell is deformed inwardly toward the frame central axis, whereby the deformed shell exerts outward force on the plastic sheet to prevent or remove wrinkling of the sheet. The display device may be suspended, as from a cord or a button on a garment of a person.

  • Patent number: 5267599
Abstract: A sunshield for shading the interior of an automobile comprising one or more layers of thin, flexible material and having a sufficient internal structure as necessary to retain the sunshield in a rigid posture while secured across the interior side of an automobile windshield. In one aspect, the internal structure comprises a thin, support band having a resilient, arcuate cross-section. In another aspect, a series of creases formed alternately in opposite sides of the sunshield provide the necessary rigidity. In preferred embodiments, the body of the sunshield comprises materials having both insulative and reflective properties.

  • Patent number: 5069478
Abstract: A compact air bag apparatus which comprises an inflatable bag secured to the vehicle shoulder belt. The deployment of the bag is controlled by electronic sensors mounted to the vehicle, the sensors being operative when a collision condition is detected. The air bag is also deployed when a voice sensor is activated by the driver. The air bag, once deployed, is designed to stay inflated, allow the driver to see and continue to control the vehicle after the collision, and to protect the driver from collision impact occurring both from the front of the vehicle and the left side thereof.
