  • Patent number: 4617457
Abstract: A document cashing system including a host computer, a plurality of ATMs, and a teller station including a display and keyboard including function keys. Each ATM includes an imager for presenting an image of a check received at the machine to the display at the teller station. The image along with other check data and data about the drawer and drawee of the check are displayed to the teller at the teller station who decides whether to accept or not accept the check for cashing by actuating an appropriate function key on the keyboard. • Patent number: 4593895
Abstract: A cassette for use with a cash dispensing machine having a picker assembly including first and second pickers, for example, for picking bills from the cassette when the cassette is placed into operative engagement with the cash dispensing machine. The cassette is used to receive a stack of bills having a front end and a rear end, with the cassette having a dispensing end which is positioned next to the picker assembly. The cassette utilizes first and second resilient pushers that are aligned with the first and second pickers to move the stack of bills towards the dispensing end. Each of the first and second resilient pushers includes a ball and socket joint which enable the pushers to conform to the rear end of the stack and thereby obviate a current "wedging" problem associated with cassettes.

  • Patent number: 4580040
Abstract: A system of cashing checks which utilizes a customer-operated, automatic teller machine (ATM) in cooperation with a teller at a teller station. A document transport within the ATM is used to deliver the check and identification media to the teller. Data entered by the customer and MICR data read from the check are used to access stored data which is displayed at the teller station to assist the teller in evaluating the customer and the negotiability of the check. Upon a satisfactory evaluation, the teller actuates a function key at the teller station which enables the ATM to dispense the currency to the customer.

  • Patent number: 4578567
Abstract: A method and system for gaining access to a plurality of machines at a financial, self-service center, for example. A user of the system enters first and second identifiers into the system, and upon a satisfactory evaluation, the user gains partial access to the system, and thereafter, the user enters his second and a newly-acquired third identifier to gain complete access to the plurality of machines.

  • Patent number: 4521008
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for automatically and mutually sharing the currency dispensers in adjacent automatic teller machines when one dispenser is either out of service because of a malfunction or out of currency. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the system is comprised of first and second article dispensers, first and second output stations, a transport mechanism operationally coupled to both dispensers and to both stations, first and second diverters respectively positioned in first and second paths through the transport mechanism and a control circuit for selectively controlling the operations of the dispensers and diverters during a dispensing operation.
