Abstract: Information processing method, device and program product capable of retrieving image data suitable for certain image data as a color scheme by a simple operation, in which (1) a piece of image data is selected as a retrieval criterion from among a plurality of image data stored in a first memory device, (2) a color stored in combination with a feature color of the selected image data is extracted from a second memory device for storing a plurality of two-color combinations suitable as color schemes, and (3) image data having the extracted color as a feature color is extracted from the first memory device as a retrieval result.
Abstract: A retrieval apparatus allows keywords to be attached simply and automatically. A feature quantity extractor 15 extracts feature quantities of a registration-target image to obtain a p-dimensional feature vector. A vector converter 16 multiplies the p-dimensional feature vector with a canonical correlation coefficient matrix A2 so as to convert the feature vector into a k-dimensional feature composite variable vector, thus making a scale change. A keyword auto-setting processor 14 obtains q neighboring images based on distances between the feature composite variable vector of the registration-target image and coordinate composite variable vectors of r pre-registered images stored in a vector conversion coefficient storage 10. Then, based on distances between positions of the resulting q neighboring images on the image space and positions of the pre-registered keywords on the keyword space, h neighboring keywords are obtained for each of the neighboring images.

In an information processing apparatus that manages image data together with its content information, a decoration that is suitable for an image assigned by the user, from predetermined decorations, is selected based on event information contained in the content information of the image data. Abstract: Provided is an information processing apparatus which stores and manages image data and is able to output image data in a size equal to the size in the data reading stage independently of the resolutions of an image input device and an image output device. The original size is stored together with the image data in an image data inputting stage. An image output magnification is calculated so as to output an image in a size equal to the size of the original based on the resolution of the image output device and the resolution of the image input device in an image data outputting stage, and enlarged or reduced image data is outputted at the calculated magnification.

Abstract: Keyword attachment is easily achieved in a short time. An automatic key attachment function deriving section derives an automatic key attachment function from an image quantity of a keyword attached to a designated reference image and a feature quantity of the reference image and stores the function into an automatic key attachment function storing section. A feature quantity calculating section of an image data registering section calculates the feature quantity of a registered image. A keyword estimating section obtains an image quantity from the calculated feature quantity and the automatic key attachment function, estimates the keyword based on this obtained image quantity and attaches the keyword to the registered image data.
Abstract: In image data retrieval, image data that becomes the base of search is specified. When the search is to be carried out according to the distance from the image data on an image map, an automatic setting process of retrieval information is carried out. Here, a keyword, icon, chromaticity and the like of that image data are automatically set as retrieval information. The position of that image data on the image map becomes the center of a range when the ambiguity is set. By setting the ambiguity of the image map, keyword, icon, chromaticity, and the like in this state, the range of ambiguity is displayed, and image data within that range is automatically retrieved. As a result, analogous image data can be searched for according to subtle and ambiguous information or information that cannot be quantified.

Abstract: An information processor system includes a control unit for controlling the entire system mainly formed of a CPU, a display for displaying image data to be edited, a keyboard for entering various inputs, a plurality of mice for applying simple instructions of editing work instead of input from the keyboard, and a printer for printing out image data displayed on the display onto a sheet of paper. The display has four types of images displayed. A plurality of cursors corresponding to each of the plurality of mice are displayed on the screen.
Abstract: A copying machine having an original feeding unit for feeding originals onto a platen glass which is operable in a two-original feeding mode where two originals are placed side by side in a particular position on the platen glass, and a sheet handling unit which is operable in a binding mode where copy sheets which copied images are bound. When the two-original feeding mode is selected, a selection of the binding mode is inhibited. When the two-original feeding mode is selected after the binding mode was selected, a warning is generated to inform that the sheet handling unit becomes impossible to be operated in the binding mode. When a copying operation is started without in spite of the generation of the warning, the binding mode is canceled.
Abstract: A non-invasive glucose concentration measurement apparatus includes: a light source which projects at the sample radiation of a wavelength range including a wavelength at which absorption greatly changes with glucose concentration but does not greatly vary with temperature; a photosensor which receives the radiation which have been projected by the light source, and transmitted through or reflected by the sample, and generates an electrical signal corresponding to a through-transmitted or reflected level of the radiation of the wavelength; and a calculator which calculates a glucose concentration based on the electrical signal. A more accurate glucose concentration can be obtained without the influence of temperature.

Abstract: A copying apparatus includes a circulating type original document feeder for feeding a plurality of originals from a tray, one by one, onto an exposure section. Each original is exposed to light from an optical system and an image of each original is copied onto a sheet. The apparatus also includes a counter for counting the number of originals fed from the feeder, a binding unit for binding sheets, and a controller for inhibiting the operation of the binding unit when the value counted by the counter is over a standard. The feeder may operate in a first feeding mode where each original is fed to the exposure section with only its first side facing the optical system, or in a second feeding mode where each original is fed twice to the exposure section, once with its first side facing the optical system and then once with its other side facing the optical system.
