  • Patent number: 8261940
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide vending dispenser assemblies for beverage dispensers. In particular, embodiments of the invention can provide a beverage dispenser with a manually operated vending dispenser assembly that consumes little or no additional electrical power to dispense a beverage container using the assembly. Embodiments of a vending dispenser assembly can be used with a heated or chilled compartment associated with a beverage dispenser. Furthermore, embodiments of a vending dispenser assembly can operate in conjunction with a relatively small dispenser opening to limit heat transfer loss via the dispenser opening. One embodiment can provide a dispenser for dispensing a number of products. The dispenser can include at least one storage column adapted to dispense a number of products, and a product selection device operable to permit one of the number of products to advance from the storage column, wherein the advanced product can be dispensed from the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 5925064
Abstract: The invention is a series of minimally invasive, miniature surgical instruments mounted directly on a surgeon's fingertips in a way that the surgeon can insert his or her hand into a patient through a minimal incision to perform surgical procedures, and also to use his or her fingers to manipulate tissues. The invention enables the surgeon to perform the procedures with all the benefits of minimally invasive surgery, but with much greater tactile sense, control, and ease of manipulation, than enabled by known minimally invasive surgical instruments.

  • Patent number: 5624397
Abstract: The catheter is formed by a housing having a size and shape which fits readily into the hand of the user. An elongate tube is connected to and extends from the housing. The elongate tube is formed from a flexible polymeric material and constructed of three portions, a proximal portion, a medial portion, and a distal portion. Each of the portions is coaxial with one another and the longitudinal axis of the catheter housing. In addition, each of the portions has substantially the same outer circumference. The proximal and distal portions are formed of a flexible polymeric material which has a higher durometer of hardness than that of the medial portion. A pair of control wires extend longitudinally through the proximal, medial, and distal portions and parallel to the axis of the coaxial portions for selectively bending the portions in response to movement of the control wires.

  • Patent number: 5542924
Abstract: The catheter has a housing of such a size as to be readily held in the hand of the user, and a tubular proximal portion connected to and extending from the housing. The proximal portion is formed of a flexible polymeric material. The distal portion is coaxial with and is adjacent to the proximal portion. The distal portion is also formed of a flexible polymeric material and it has substantially the same outer circumference as the proximal portion. The distal portion is more flexible than the medial portion. A pair of control wires extend longitudinally through the proximal and distal portions and parallel to the axis of the coaxial portions for bending the flexible portions in response to movement of the control wires. A control is carried by the housing for controlling the movement of the control wires to thereby bend the flexible portions and remotely manipulate the catheter within a human body.

  • Patent number: 5053827
Abstract: A belt conditioning system for a flexible belt electrophotographic print engine includes a cleaning blade (144) which is operable to clean a transfer belt (20) on a per page basis. A roller (152) is operable to be disposed in contact with the belt (20) on a page intermittent basis to more aggressively condition the belt (20). A controller (39) is operable to activate the roller (152) on a page intermittent basis and, during activation of the roller (152), transfer of images to the transfer belt (20) from a PC belt (30) is inhibited to prevent any registration problems from occurring during the conditioning cycle.

  • Patent number: 4931839
Abstract: A transfer mechanism for a full color double transfer electrophotographic print engine. Relatively conductive developer materials having successively increasing triboelectric charge characteristics are used to develop sequential images. Conductive plates displaced away from the transfer station along the direction of travel of the transfer belt are used as one electrode for applying an electrostatic field at each transfer station. A parameter of the transfer mechanism is a bulk resistivity of the transfer belt in the range of 10.sup.7 to 10.sup.10 ohm-centimeters and a surface resistivity for the belt in the range of 10.sup.7 to 10.sup.10 ohms per square. A selectively operable compression roller, compressing paper and transfer belt against a rubberized idling roller at one of the transfer stations increase dwell time in the transfer station. The compression roller automatically falls to a cleaning station where it is rotated by another rotary member to clean it between transfers.

  • Patent number: 4806097
Abstract: An improved full color electrophotographic print engine using flexible belts to carry a photosensitive electrostatic image developer and a transfer belt for building up composite developed images. Each belt, and an optical scanner, are driven by mechanically independent motors which are synchronized by an electronic digital controller implementing precise servos. The use of the flexible belts allows the machine to be relatively inexpensive, very small compared to previous full color print engines, and yet maintain precise registration of color composite images. An improved fuser mechanism with increased dwell time at constant machine speed is also shown. The fuser includes a pair of spaced-apart rollers, both of which urge a sheet of image receptor against the heated roller over a predetermined angular portion of the roller. The machine is specifically designed to be used interchangeably with an optical bench source as a copier or with a laser bench as a laser printer.
