  • Patent number: 4778624
Abstract: The invention provides a method for the preparation of a stable aqueous emulsion of a poly(silsesquioxane) without formation of gelled particles. In the method, a trialkoxysilane compound as the starting material is first emulsified in an aqueous medium containing a cationic surface active agent and a non-ionic surface active agent having a specified HLB value in the range from 16 to 20 in combination followed by the addition of an alkali catalyst and heating to effect hydrolysis and polycondensation of the trialkoxysilane.

  • Patent number: 4726964
Abstract: The invention provides a method for imparting releasability to the surface of a plastic film or paper by coating the surface with an organopolysiloxane composition followed by curing, in which the curing is complete by heating at a relatively low temperature and the cured surface film of the composition is very stable and free from the problem of transfer to another body in contact therewith. The composition comprises a vinyl-containing organopolysiloxane, an organohydrogenpolysiloxane and a platinum compound to catalyze the addition reaction between the silicon-bonded vinyl groups and silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms. Different from conventional organohydrogenpolysiloxane having a linear molecular structure, the organohydrogenpolysiloxane used in the invention is represented by the general unit formula (RSiO.sub.1.5).sub.m (RHSiO.sub.0.5).sub.n, in which R is a monovalent hydrocarbon group free form unsaturation and m and n are each a positive integer with the proviso that the ratio of n/m is from 0.1 to 3.

  • Patent number: 4689384
Abstract: So-called addition-type curable organopolysiloxane compositions curable by the hydrosilation reaction between vinyl groups of a dimethylpolysiloxane and hydrogen atoms directly bonded to the silicon atoms in a methylhydrogenpolysiloxane in the presence of a platinum catalyst can be imparted with a greatly increased pot life to have improved workability when the composition is admixed with a halogen- or alkoxy-substituted olefinic organic compound such as allyl halides, 1,3- and 2,3-dihalogenopropenes, 2-alkyl-3-halogenopropenes, 1,3- and 1,4-dihalogenobutenes-2 and alkyl allyl ethers as a moderator of the crosslinking reaction without any adverse effect on the curability of the composition.

  • Patent number: 4660927
Abstract: The invention provides a novel silicone-coated, quartz glass-made optical fiber which is very advantageous in the high efficiency of the coating process as well as in the improved workability in the connecting works of the fiber terminals for extension of the communication lines by virtue of the excellent peelability of the coating layer from the surface of the quartz glass fiber even by mere drawing the coated fiber between fingers. The coating layer is formed of a radiation- or UV-cured silicone composition comprising (A-a) an organopolysiloxane having aliphatic unsaturation, e.g. vinyl, and/or (A-b) an organopolysiloxane having mercaptoalkyl groups, e.g. 3-mercaptopropyl groups, and (B) a curing accelerator.

  • Patent number: 4603086
Abstract: The present invention relates to an organopolysiloxane material which is cured rapidly by irradiating it with radiation such as ultraviolet rays, electron beam and X-rays to provide a film having good characteristics, which can be readily produced synthetically and which is stable, as well as the material's cured releasing film. The material is obtained by the reaction of (A), an organic silicon compound having a specific formula and having at least one amino group, and (B), an acrylic compound having at least two acrylate groups.

  • Patent number: 4584342
Abstract: A liquid silicone rubber composition comprising (A) an organopolysiloxane containing epoxy groups, (B) an organopolysiloxane containing amino groups and (C) a curing catalyst for epoxy compounds is proposed in which the compounding ratio of the component (A) to the component (B) is in the range of from 0.2 to 5.0 relative to the epoxy/amino molar ratio and which further contains optionally an organic solvent such as xylene and a silica flour. The composition is cured rapidly without the problem of catalyst poisoning even at room temperatures to be converted into a cured article with low volume resistivity and excellent antistatic performance as well as surface releasability. The composition is useful as casting materials, electric insulating materials, paint vehicles, coating materials, molding compositions and the like.
