  • Patent number: 5864039
Abstract: Benzoic acid compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein each symbol is as defined in the specification, optical isomers thereof and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; pharmaceutical composition comprising this compound and pharmaceutically acceptable additive; and serotonin 4 receptor agonists, gastrointestinal prokinetic agents and therapeutic agents for various gastrointestinal diseases, which comprise this compound as active ingredient. The compounds of the present invention have high and selective affinity for serotonin 4 receptor, and show agonistic effects thereon. Accordingly, they are useful medications for the prophylaxis and treatment of various gastrointestinal diseases, central nervous disorders, cardiac function disorders, urinary diseases, and the like, as well as useful anti-nociceptors for analgesic use which increase threshold of pain.

  • Patent number: 5609789
Abstract: Cobalt-containing magnetic iron oxide particles extremely suitable for magnetic recording mediums, especially for image recording mediums and a process for producing the same from the precursor, .gamma.-FeOOH which is advantageous in industry are disclosed. Cobalt-containing magnetic iron oxide particles satisfying the following equations (1), (2) and (3):20.ltoreq.SSA.ltoreq.50 (1)-16.70.ltoreq.log [V].ltoreq.-3.05 log [SSA]-11.35 (2)0.10.ltoreq.Fe.sup.2+ /total Fe.ltoreq.0.30 (3)where SSA is a BET specific surface area (m.sup.2 /g), and V is a magnetic switching unit (cm.sup.3), can be produced by producing iron oxide particles having a concentration of Fe.sup.2+ of 0.10 to 0.36 as expressed by Fe.sup.2+ /total Fe from the precursor, .gamma.-FeOOH, and coating a cobalt compound or a combination of a cobalt compound and other metal compounds on the surfaces of the iron oxide particles.

  • Patent number: 5037059
Abstract: An X-ray diagnostic device with a suspension mechanism for suspending an object in a vertically movable manner, using two suspension wires, which can avoid the shortened durability of the suspension wires, and using windup type springs, which can eliminate possibility for the fall of the suspended object due to the breaking of the windup type springs. The suspension mechanism may includes two suspension wires for holding the suspended object; and single threaded corn pulleys, one for each one of the two suspension wires, for winding the respective suspension wires. The suspension mechanism may also includes a plurality of windup type springs for balancing against gravitational force acting on the suspended object; connection between the plurality of windup type springs such that this connection moves when the plurality of windup type springs are put to be not balanced with respect to each other; and mechanism for preventing the fall of the suspended object by detecting motion of the connection.
