The second electrode covers a whole surface of the insulating layer and the organic layers and allowing light emitted in the organic layers to transmit therethrough. The conductive material is provided in the through holes, for electrically connecting the auxiliary electrode to the second electrode.

The protective skin film is an electro-deposited and sintered mixture of boride or carbon containing electrically conductive powders and glass powders. The electrically conductive powders and the glass powders are mixed in a volumetric ratio in a range from 9:1 to 3:7, with the film thickness of the protective skin film being in a range from 1 to 20 &mgr;m.
