  • Patent number: 6257848
Abstract: In a compressor for compressing a gaseous fluid, a control valve (22) is arranged for controlling an open area of a suction passage (17,18) which is for introducing the gaseous fluid. In a first state where the gaseous fluid has a relatively low flow rate in the suction passage, the open area of the suction passage is reduced. • Patent number: 6164940
Abstract: In a scroll type compressor in which a compression mechanism compresses a gaseous fluid with moving the gaseous fluid along a spiral path to produce a compressed gas, an escaping path is provided for escaping the compressed gas from the compression mechanism at an intermediate portion of the spiral path. A pressure transmission path transmits pressure of the compressed gas to a valve mechanism which is for controlling an open and an close of the escaping path. • Patent number: 5993177
Abstract: In a scroll type compressor wherein a fixed scroll (8) has an end plate (8b) and an involute vane (8a) fixed to the end plate and is coupled to a movable scroll (5) so as to define a pair of working spaces therebetween, the end plate of the fixed scroll are formed a pair of cylinders each of which communicates with the working spaces via bypass holes (15a) and (15b) formed in the end plate of the fixed scroll. In each of the cylinders, a cylindrical piston valve member (10) is slidably received for opening and closing the bypass holes. • Patent number: 5934172
Abstract: In a swash plate type compressor in which a piston (60) is reciprocated in accordance with a rotary motion of a swash plate and is located within a housing (2) having an inner periphery (2a), the piston is formed with first and second rotation-regulating surfaces (62a, 63a) which face the inner periphery and have centers of curvature at positions different from one another. The first and second rotation-regulating surfaces are angularly offset from one another. • Patent number: 5380176
Abstract: A refrigerant compressor includes a compressor housing defining a chamber in which successive strokes of intake, compression, and discharge of a refrigerant gas are repeatedly performed. The chamber is divided into a compression chamber and a discharge chamber by a valve plate. A discharge hole links the compression chamber to the discharge chamber. The valve plate includes an end surface which faces the discharge chamber. A discharge valve regulates a flow of the refrigerant gas from the compression chamber to the discharge chamber. A valve retainer limits the bending movement of the discharge valve in the direction in which the refrigerant gas exits the discharge hole. The valve retainer is secured to an axial end surface of the valve plate together with the discharge valve by a fixing bolt. The discharge valve bends as it opens and closes the discharge hole. The valve plate includes an annular groove formed at the end surface thereof.

  • Patent number: 5275542
Abstract: A free piston type compressor includes a piston slidably fitted within a cylinder. A compression chamber is defined in the cylinder on one side of the piston, and a balance chamber is defined in the cylinder on the other side of the piston. A piston rod is connected to the piston and axially extends out of the cylinder through the balance chamber. A valve mechanism includes a suction valve, a discharge valve, and a valve plate, and is disposed on the end portion of the cylinder that faces the compression chamber. Since the piston rod extends out of the cylinder without passing through the compression chamber, the seal between the cylinder and the piston rod is not subjected to the high pressure working fluid, and the volumetric efficiency of the compressor is increased by reducing the dead clearance in the compression chamber.

Abstract: A swash plate type compressor with a variable displacement mechanism is disclosed. The compressor includes a compressor housing having a cylinder block provided with a plurality of cylinders and a crank chamber. A piston is slidably fitted within each of the cylinders and is reciprocated by a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism includes a drive shaft rotatably supported by the compressor housing, a pair of rotor plates fixed on the drive shaft and a swash plate having a surface with an adjustable incline angle or tilt. • Patent number: 5255569
Abstract: A slant plate type compressor with a variable displacement mechanism is disclosed. The compressor includes a drive mechanism having a drive shaft rotatably supported in a compressor housing and a coupling mechanism for drivingly coupling the drive shaft to pistons such that rotary motion of the drive shaft is converted into reciprocating motion of the pistons. The coupling mechanism includes a slant plate having an inclined surface. The slant angle changes in response to a change in pressure in the crank chamber and, thus, changes the capacity of the compressor. The drive shaft includes an inner end portion which has a diameter that is smaller than a diameter of the remainder of the drive shaft. A bias spring which has an outer diameter that is greater than a diameter of the remainder of the drive shaft is resiliently mounted on the inner end portion of the drive shaft between the slant plate and the cylinder block.

  • Patent number: 5193992
Abstract: A scroll type fluid displacement apparatus is disclosed. A driving mechanism includes a drive shaft which is rotatably supported by the compressor housing. A crank pin eccentrically extends from an inner end of the drive shaft and is drivingly coupled to a bushing. The bushing has a central axis which is offset from the central axes of the drive shaft and the crank pin. The bushing transmits orbital motion to the orbiting scroll thereby developing line contacts between the spiral elements. A first line can be defined passing through the central axis of the drive shaft and the central axis of the bushing, a second line can be defined passing through the central axis of the bushing and perpendicular to the first line, and a third line can be defined between the central axis of the bushing and the central axis of the crank pin. As the bushing rotates about the crank pin, a reaction force due to the compressed gas is exerted on the central axis of the bushing.

  • Patent number: 5189886
Abstract: A refrigerating system including a refrigerant circuit having a condenser, evaporator and wobble plate type compressor with a variable displacement mechanism. Two passages communicate between the crank chamber and the suction chamber in the cylinder block. A bellows is disposed in a first passage and controls the communication between the crank chamber and the suction chamber response to crank chamber pressure. A control valve is disposed in the second passage and controls communication between the crank chamber and the suction chamber in the second passage in response to a signal generated outside of the compressor. A control circuit controls the generation of the signal in response to thermodynamic characteristics related to the evaporator. The signal activates or deactivates the second control valve when the characteristic indicates a value beyond a predetermined range of values.
