  • Patent number: 5490328
Abstract: A dry shaver has a housing with a head frame floatingly supporting an outer shearing foil. An associated inner cutter is driven to move in hair shearing engagement with the outer shearing foil. The head frame is formed with a stopper which is in use adapted to come into contact with a user's skin. The shaver is characterized in that the outer shearing foil is supported to the head frame by means of a floating mechanism which, when the outer shearing foil is depressed at a given portion by contact with the user's skin, allows an upper end of the depressed portion of the outer shearing foil to displace down beyond the stopper such that the stopper comes into contact with the skin for bearing the depressing force.

  • Patent number: 5473818
Abstract: A dry shaver includes a perforated outer shearing foil and an inner cutter. The outer shearing foil has a first axis along which it is arcuately curved. The inner cutter has a longitudinal axis along which it is arcuately curved to have an arcuate contour in conformity with the outer shearing foil and is driven to reciprocate in hair shearing engagement with the outer shearing foil. The inner cutter comprises a plurality of inner blades which are spaced along the longitudinal axis in parallel relation to each other, each of the blades having opposed first and second faces each defining a cutting edge at its upper end so that the individual cutting edges are cooperative to define the arcuate contour. Each inner blade, which is offset from a longitudinal center of the inner cutter, is formed with a first face directing outwardly in the offset direction with an undercut immediately adjacent to the cutting edge. The undercut cooperates with the adjacent cutting edge to give an first rake angle .beta.

  • Patent number: 5463813
Abstract: A dry shaver includes a housing mounting thereon a cutter head which comprises a perforated outer shearing foil and an inner cutter. The outer shearing foil has a first axis along which it is arcuately curved. The inner cutter has a longitudinal axis along which it is arcuately curved to have an arcuate contour in conformity with the outer shearing foil. Projecting from the housing is a drive arm which is connected to reciprocate the inner cutter along a reciprocation path parallel to the first axis in hair shearing engagement with the outer shearing foil so that the inner cutter moves to and fro between two end positions spaced along the reciprocation path and defining therebetween a central position. A spring is provided to floatingly support the inner cutter to the drive arm for biasing the inner cutter against the outer shearing foil. The inner cutter is configured to satisfy the following relation that 0.

  • Patent number: 5189792
Abstract: A reciprocatory cutter head includes a pair of cutter heads mounted to a head frame. Each of the cutter heads is of elongated configuration extending horizontally to define a longitudinal axis and have opposed longitudinal ends. The cutter head includes an elongated outer shearing foil which comes into hair shearing engagement with an inner cutter driven to reciprocate along the longitudinal axis. The cutter heads are floatingly supported to the head frame in such a manner that the cutter heads are vertically movable relative to the head frame independently from each other as well as that each of the cutter heads is vertically movable at one longitudinal end substantially independently of the other longitudinal end. Whereby, the cutter heads cooperate with each other to readily conform to the shapes of a user's skin with maximum skin engaging area for assuring enhanced shaving performance, particularly at the irregularly contoured portions of the skin.

  • Patent number: 4926552
Abstract: A cutting head for reciprocatory-type shavers comprises a mount frame carrying a shearing foil and an inner cutter driven to reciprocate in shearing contact with the shearing foil. The mount frame has a pair of opposed side bars between which the shearing foil extends in a convexly shaped manner to have its longitudinal axis extending along the apex of the shearing foil and in parallel with the side bars. The inner cutter is driven to reciprocate along the longitudinal axis and is mounted to be movable to a limited extent laterally towards the side bars. The opposite lower end or the lateral end portions of the shearing foil are secured to the outside surfaces the side bars, respectively such that each of the side bars is interposed between the inner cutter and the lower end portion of the shearing foil.

  • Patent number: 4493149
Abstract: Reciprocal blade assembly of electric shaver having means for positively shaving specifically such long beard hair as ones extending along user's face skin or curling which are hard to shave, in addition to ordinary beard hair easy to shave. The means comprises an elongated bent part and slit-shaped hair inlet apertures made in an outer blade of a flexible steel foil fixed as bent semicylindrically to the shaver's head, the bent part being parallel to the longitudinal axis of the blade and the slit-shaped apertures substantially transversing the bent part, and an undulated part corresponding to the bent part and made in respective arcuate cutting blade edges of an inner cutter driven reciprocally to slide at the edges along the inner surface of the outer blade.
