    Abstract: In an arrangement for jointing together adjacent pieces (1, 2) of floor covering material, mutually facing edge portions of the pieces (1, 2) in a joint are profiled such that the one piece (1) has a groove-shaped accommodation space (5) in which a corresponding bead-shaped projection (6) on the other piece (2) may be accommodated. The one piece has a flocking (9) which is disposed for holding together adjacent pieces. The profiling has, besides the accommodation space (5) and the projection (6), mutually facing surfaces (7, 8) on both pieces (1, 2, respectively), at least one of these surfaces being flocked (9). The seats carry identical inserts, each insert being of tetragonal or pentagonal, or hexagonal shape. Each insert includes first and second side faces. Each side face includes a pair of minor cutting edges at each corner of the insert. Two major cutting edges intersect respective ones of the minor cutting edges whereby each major cutting edge and its associated minor cutting edge together form a cooperating pair of cutting edges. There are two of those cooperating pairs at each corner of each side face, whereby there are at least sixteen cooperating pairs on the insert. The minor cutting edges, which function to generate a surface on a workpiece, are sharper than the major cutting edges. During a milling operation the insert is oriented so that only one cutting corner engages a workpiece, and only one of the cooperating pairs of cutting edges of that cutting corner is active.

    Abstract: A shank carries a milling tool and has a clamping portion adapted to be mounted in a bore of a chuck. The chuck has first and second locking screws which are engageable with first and second recesses, respectively, formed on a cylindrical outer surface of the clamping portion of the shank. The first recess is configured such that the first locking screw urges the clamping portion into the bore to press a surface of the shank against the chuck. The second recess comprises first and second longitudinally adjacent planar surfaces which form an angle with one another. Depending upon the angle of inclination of the second locking screw (that angle varies in different types of chucks), the second locking screw will flushly engage one or the other of the surfaces for preventing rotation of the shank within the bore.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for determining the specific fuel consumption of an internal combustion engine by measuring the change in weight of a pot containing fuel for consumption by the engine during a specific, selectable time. The apparatus for performing this method includes a data acquisition system equipped with a number of measuring points. Sensors at the measuring points feed, through the data acquisition system, signals representing the change in weight of the fuel pot, the speed of the engine and the torque of the engine into a computer. The computer is programmed for measuring at constant speed and constant torque, within selectable tolerances, and for measurement during a specific, selectable period of time. The method of the invention permits the use of statistical methods to assure reliable and accurate measurement results with the shortest possible measurement period, while providing high flexibility in interfacing with an operator or central computer system.
