  • Patent number: 9686030
Abstract: Efficiency for mixing audio signals from one or more portable user devices in an audio system employing a number of docking station is achieved by a docking station that includes a controller for detecting the presence of an activated mixer associated with another docking station in the system. The controller activates its associated mixer when no activated mixer associated with another docking host in the system is detected. When its associated mixer is activated, the controller in the one docking station causes its associated mixer to be connected both to the audio sound system for supplying an input signal thereto and indirectly to the output(s) of the one or more portable devices. Transfer of mixing from one docking station to another in the same system upon the occurrence of a particularly defined event is also described.

  • Publication number: 20170170906
Abstract: The disclosure relates to symbols of data being encoded into visible light emitted by a light source, at a symbol rate fsym having a symbol period Tsym=1/fsym. Each of the symbols is encoded as one of a set of at least two different symbol waveforms formed in a level of the emitted light as a function of time, each of the symbol waveforms representing a respective one of a corresponding set of different data values. The difference between the symbol waveforms, which represents the different data values, is formed only within a predetermined time window at a given phase within the symbol period, the predetermined time window having a duration less than 0.75·Tsym, the light level inside this time window being substantially different for the different symbol waveforms, and the light level outside the time window being substantially the same for the different symbol waveforms.

  • Patent number: 9578442
Abstract: Configurability and controllability over the initiation of automatic docking for a portable device seeking to dock wirelessly with a docking station in a wireless docking system environment are achieved by the method and system disclosed herein. The portable device detects the docking station in the wireless docking environment. When the docking station is detected, a communication path is established between the portable device and the docking station. A received signal characteristic level is measured for a received signal. The received signal characteristic level is compared to a determined threshold so that, at least when the received signal level exceeds the determined threshold, docking the portable device to the docking station is able to be completed.

  • Publication number: 20170047982
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for managing proxy device assignment in a wireless communication network where proxy devices operate as relay devices forwarding signals from a resource restricted device to a destination device. The method comprises dividing an identifier space of the resource restricted device into at least two parts, and assigning at least one of the at least two parts of the identifier space to at least one proxy device of the wireless communication network wherein the proxy device assigned to a first part of the identifier space is responsible for the resource restricted device transmitting a signal comprising an identifier falling within the first part of the identifier space.

  • Patent number: 9565267
Abstract: The present invention relates to several techniques for managing the contents of proxy tables in ways that optimize performance, latency, and reliability for communication networks, while ensuring a certain number of early-acting proxies per restricted device. An entity is allowed to keep a required number of proxies per resource-restricted device by removing or adding proxy table entries. Furthermore, the entity is allowed to keep track of early-acting proxies based on forwarding strategies, reporting strategies and/or polling strategies. Thereby, proxy table entries can be controlled to optimize overall system performance and reliability characteristics.

  • Patent number: 9538616
Abstract: The present invention defines a HTTP or CoAP request message that combines one or more HTTP or CoAP requests along with timing information (432-1). The message is sent by a control device (132) to a network proxy (i.e. a network router (112)) via a control network (120). The network proxy decodes the message and subsequently controls destination devices, in particular luminaires (L1, L2, L3, L4), in a timed manner using the HTTP or CoAP requests. The network proxy is application-independent and also enables control of third party HTTP-or CoAP-based devices that are not aware of timed requests. Improved timing performance is obtained by choosing the network proxy location “close by”, in terms of network hops and/or latency, to the destination devices to be controlled.

  • Publication number: 20160249426
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems are disclosed herein for projecting lighting effects (124, 224, 324, 424) carrying light messages onto surfaces. A first of one or more light-emitting diodes (LEDs, 554) of a lighting fixture (120, 220, 320, 420, 520) may be selectively energized to produce a first coded light signal conveying a first light message associable with a first location. Light emitted from the first LED may be projected onto a first surface, e.g., as a spatially-limited lighting effect. In some embodiments, a second of the one or more LEDs of the lighting fixture may be selectively energized to produce a second coded light signal conveying a second light message associable with a second location distinct from the first location. Light emitted from the second LED may be projected onto the first surface or a second surface. Alternatively, lighting effects of various shapes and hues may convey information.

  • Publication number: 20160203706
Abstract: The invention relates to methods and devices for exchanging control information in mixed radio systems. Security is added in cases where a user of a first wireless device (102) wants to command a second wireless device (101) to perform a certain action. The first and second wireless devices use different radio systems or standards (e.g. WiFi and ZigBee/802.15.4) but their radios do operate on the same frequency band (e.g. 2.4 GHz). To add security, the second wireless device (101) will only accept certain commands if it can detect that the first wireless device (102) is physically close-by. To prove that the first device (102) is close-by, it emits a predetermined energy pattern, e.g., one or more packets (the contents do not matter, while their lengths/time spacing may) using its radio system. At the same time, the second wireless device (101) measures the energy in one or more of its overlapping radio channels to detect that the first wireless device (102) is close by and execute the commanded action.

  • Publication number: 20160154088
Abstract: A luminaire is provided for use in determining an orientation of a camera based on an image of the luminaire captured by the camera. The luminaire comprises a light source having an on state in which it emits light and an off state in which it does not emit light, and being of a shape having a symmetry in the off state. The luminaire also comprises a controller configured to control the light source to emit said light in the on state with a lighting effect that breaks said symmetry. A device comprising receives an image of the light source from a camera, and determines an orientation of the camera relative to the light source by performing a geometric perspective calculation based on the image of the light source. An ambiguity in the orientation is resolved by detecting the asymmetry in the light emitted by the light source.
