  • Publication number: 20050195430
Abstract: A system includes an image formation apparatus, an image retrieval server, and image storage servers, and a network for connecting them. The image formation apparatus forms an image based on image data, records the image data in a predetermined storing location on the image storage servers, converts the image data under a predetermined rule to generate an image identification information as a key in order to read the image data from the storing location, and outputs the image identification information. Upon reception of an image data retrieval request together with an image identification information, the image retrieval server determines that the image data whose result of conversion under the predetermined rule is equal to the image identification information, among at least one image data stored in a predetermined storing location on the image storage servers, is the image data to be retrieved, and outputs its information.

  • Patent number: 6798542
Abstract: Input gray-scale bit map information is inputted to an image forming position extracting unit for extracting image forming position information. An input computer-formed image is inputted to an image forming position extracting unit for generating an image forming position. At an image forming position overlapping unit, two image forming positions are overlapped with each other, and the composed image forming position is sent to a pixel value calculating unit and an image forming position determining unit. The image value calculating unit measures a width of the composed image forming position and converts the measured value into a pixel value. The image forming position determining unit calculates a barycenter of the composed image forming position. The pixel value and the barycenter are sent as image information. Encoding without distortion can be executed by enhancing the precision of the barycenter.

  • Patent number: 6459502
Abstract: The invention provides an image formation device based on the electrophotographic system, whereby, when an outputted image varies from the halftone area to the background area in the sub-scanning direction, the density reduction of a rear end area of the halftone area that borders on the background area can be prevented, by means of simplified and small-scale processing. In this image formation device, a backward edge of the halftone area that borders on the background area is extracted, and an image data value of the background area including m pixels after this backward edge in the sub-scanning direction, of input image data Si, is modified to a setting value with correction data. The setting value is set to a value slightly lower than the threshold value corresponding to the dot area coverage of an image recurrence start point.

  • Patent number: 6233062
Abstract: It is made possible to prevent decrease in the density due to the image output characteristic of the image output unit in the subscanning direction by means of a method according to the present invention capable of real-time processing without causing the circuit capacity and the memory to be increased. In an image input unit 100, the input image data is acquired so that its time series direction becomes a direction indicated by an arrow 42 corresponding to the subscanning direction of an image output unit 300. The input image data from the image input unit 100 is corrected in accordance with the image output characteristic of the image output unit 300 in the subscanning direction. The image data after the correction is rotationally processed so that its time series direction becomes a direction indicated by an arrow 41 corresponding to the main scanning direction of the image output unit 300. The image data after the rotary processing is sent to the image output unit 300.

  • Patent number: 6104524
Abstract: A polygon mirror 36 have reflecting surfaces being arrayed such that the reflecting surfaces each having coatings 38 at both ends thereof and the reflecting surfaces having no coating are alternately arrayed. A beam width of a light beam reflected by a coating facet 36A is smaller than a beam width of a light beam by a non-coating facet 36B. Alight beam (first light beam) is deflected by the coating facet 36A, and it lands on a photoreceptor. A light beam (second light beam) is deflected by the non-coating facet 36B, and it lands on the photoreceptor. At this time, a beam diameter of the first light beam on the photoreceptor in the first scan direction is larger than that of the second light beam. When the laser beam is deflected by the non-coating facet 36B, the laser beam is modulated by image data. When it is deflected by the coating facet 36A, the laser beam is modulated by bias data.

  • Patent number: 5657071
Abstract: A method of processing image data to reproduce an image having good half-tone reproduction, sharpness, and details, through pulse modulation of a laser beam. In the method, the laser beam is turned on and off in accordance with the result of comparing an input image signal with a reference signal which has been frequency modulated in accordance with a shape feature of the input image signal. In the case of an image having low input contrast, the tone performance of an image output unit is improved by the mesh dots of the low spatial frequency. In the case of an image having high input contrast, an image having high sharpness and details is reproduced by the mesh dots of the high spatial frequency.
