  • Patent number: 7944617
Abstract: A lens array device and an image display device using the lens array device, which allow a lens effect characteristic different from that of a single variable lens array to be easily obtained, are provided. The lens array device includes a variable lens array and a fixed lens array. The variable lens array includes a plurality of variable lenses each having electrically-adjustable refracting power. The fixed lens array includes a plurality of fixed lenses each provided in correspondence to each of the plurality of variable lenses. Each of the fixed lenses has a refracting power which, once a corresponding variable lens has come to have a first refracting power, allows the first refracting power to be cancelled out.

  • Patent number: 7606133
Abstract: A hologram recording/reproducing device records information onto a medium by a light beam emitted from a laser light source and passing through a forward path, the forward path having optical components in an area extending from the laser light source to the medium, and reproduces the recorded information by the light beam passing through a backward path, the backward path having optical components in an area extending from the medium to an array light detector. The device includes a spatial-light modulator and a first objective lens disposed in the forward path, and a second objective lens and a polarization-dependent diffraction element disposed in the backward path. The modulator generates signal light and reference light from the light beam emitted from the laser light source, the signal light and the reference light being spatially divided from each other and having a common light path. The first objective lens focuses the signal light and the reference light from the modulator onto the medium.

  • Patent number: 7310173
Abstract: In the hologram recording and hologram-record reproduction using a one-dimensional optical modulator, the one-dimensional optical modulator where a plurality of light-modulating pixels are arranged modulates a laser beam to record a digital-data signal on a hologram recording medium, and part of the light-modulating pixels record sync signals in two or more positions on the hologram recording medium with retaining a predetermined interval, thereby improving hindrance to reproduction or readout of information recorded on the hologram recording medium, a decrease in S/N, and so on due to deformation or the like of the hologram recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20070268539
Abstract: A holographic recording and reproducing apparatus is provided. The holographic recording and reproducing apparatus includes a signal-beam spatial light modulating unit that displays a signal beam pattern for a signal beam, a reference-beam spatial light modulating unit that displays a reference beam pattern for a reference beam, and a controller that controls the mode of the signal beam pattern and that of the reference beam pattern. The controller controls the modes of at least two signal beam patterns and the modes of at least two reference beam patterns. A first reference beam is made to interfere with a first signal beam based on first recording data to record the data as a first hologram in a predetermined area of the holographic recording medium. A second reference beam is made to interfere with a second signal beam based on second recording data to record the data as a second hologram such that the second hologram is superimposed on the first hologram.

  • Patent number: 7085028
Abstract: A hologram recording apparatus, a hologram recording method and a hologram recording medium reduce noise components generated by a phase modulation type spatial light modulator, thus permitting improved integrity of data to be achieved. A light beam whose diffraction state has been controlled by a diffraction control element is condensed on a hologram recording medium. With this arrangement, a predetermined diffracted light component is removed from a diffracted light beam emergent from the diffraction control element when recording information, which is based on the diffraction state controlled by the diffraction control element, in a hologram recording medium. Thus, noise components when information is recorded can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6552991
Abstract: In a micro mirror apparatus pivoting on a hinge part as its axis, a movable part connected to a stationary part through the hinge part enhances exclusively the flexural rigidity of the hinge part without causing any significant change in the torsional rigidity of the hinge part and thus widens servo band. To this end, on at least a part of the hinge part 14, a protrusion 14b protruding in the direction of its thickness is formed. This greatly increases the flexural rigidity of the hinge part 14 and widens the servo band.
