  • Patent number: 5529457
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor has a diffuser operative to convert the kinetic energy of fluid discharged from an impeller into pressure and having a shroud, a main shroud, and stationary vanes disposed in the diffuser. The distance between the shroud and the main shroud is smaller at an inlet side of the diffuser than at an outlet side thereof. The stationary vanes are integral with the one of the shroud and the main shroud that is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the impeller so that an end surface of each of the stationary vanes forms a free end.

  • Patent number: 5376216
Abstract: A plurality of substrate holding members and a substrate pressing member are disposed on a rotation stage at a peripheral portion. The substrate pressing member includes a magnet and is pivotally supported by the rotation stage. A ring-shaped permanent magnet is located below the rotation stage and forms a ring around the rotation axis of the rotation stage. When a substrate mounted on the rotation stage is rotated and processed, the ring-shaped permanent magnet is positioned in the vicinity of the magnet of the substrate pressing member. This creates a magnetic force between the magnets, causing the substrate pressing member to pivot so that the substrate pressing member contacts the edge of the substrate with a predetermined amount of pressure.

  • Patent number: 5310309
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor has a diffuser with stator blades arranged therein for converting the kinetic energy of a fluid discharged from an impeller into a pressure energy. The stator blades have leading edges inclined in the downstream direction while extending away from a side plate toward a core plate. Auxiliary blades having a chord length shorter than that of each of the stator blades have leading edges inclined in the downstream direction while extending away from the side plate toward the core plate and are arranged at positions radially inward of the stator plates in such a manner that one of the surfaces of each of the auxiliary blades faces a stator blade. The compressor is capable of operating without suffering from surging and rotating stall even in a low flow rate region.

  • Patent number: 5268162
Abstract: Finely particulate Zeolites of the ZSM-5 5 family, exhibiting characteristic peaks in an X-ray powder diffraction pattern, are stably produced by a novel method in which a nucleating slurry containing semi-crystalline zeolite having a BET surface area of 100 to less than 250 m.sup.2 /g is mixed with a raw material mixture of silica, alumina and alkali metal sources to obtain a preliminary slurry, followed by heating to obtain a first precursory slurry mixture containing a precursory zeolite having a BET surface area of 100 to 200 m.sup.2 /g, and subsequently the first precursory slurry mixture is mixed with a raw material mixture as mentioned above to obtain a second precursory slurry, followed by heating to obtain a product slurry containing a finely particulate zeolite having a BET surface area of at least 250 m.sup.2 /g. In the method, the first precursory slurry mixture can be advantageously recycled and used as a nucleating slurry.

  • Patent number: 5178516
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor has diffusers which convert a high velocity, low pressure stream of fluid which flows out of an impeller to a high-velocity high-pressure flow due to the action of a purality of stator blades disposed near the outer periphery of the impeller. In this compressor, the portion of the stator blade or of an auxiliary blade which is provided in the diffuser located on the side of a front shroud is disposed closer to the impeller than the portion thereof located on the side of a main shroud, and the leading edge of the stator blade is thus inclined from the portion thereof located on the side of the main shroud to the portion thereof located on the side of the front shroud. The configuration of the front edge of a stator blade or of an auxiliary blade which is provided in the diffuser is so improved as to restrict back flow which occurs on the side of the front shroud when the flow rate is small and to lower the minimum flow rate.
