  • Patent number: 9559911
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for computing traffic between a pair of Points of Presence in an IP network by summing link utilization values measured for each link connecting a pair of Points of Presence and dividing the sum by the number of link utilization values included in the sum. The resulting average link utilization is the average link utilization of any link in the aggregate and may be multiplied by the number of active links connecting a pair of Points of Presence to reflect the total amount of traffic between the two Points of Presence. Future link utilization may be forecast by modeling the observed traffic between a pair of Points of Presence using wavelet multiresolution analysis to create an approximation curve that captures the long-term trend of link utilization and at least one detail curve that captures the short term deviation of link utilization around the long-term trend. A time series model of the approximation curve may then be constructed and used for forecasting.

  • Patent number: 9276718
Abstract: A method and a system for providing communication between at least one wireless client device through a connectivity to a corresponding dedicated access point, as well as locating and recognizing a plurality of neighboring access points, the method including notifying, by the dedicated access point, a predetermined absence period to a wireless client device to which the dedicated access point communicates, the dedicated access point becoming a client to a second access point during the predetermined absence period, receiving, by the dedicated access point as a client, data corresponding to a backhaul bandwidth of the at least second access point and aggregating the received backhaul data from the second access point to the dedicated access point's own backhaul data, and sending, by the dedicated access point, the aggregated backhaul bandwidth data to the wireless client device after the predetermined absence period has lapsed.

  • Publication number: 20150319644
Abstract: The method comprising allowing a wireless broadband connection between at least one wireless device including a tethering function with at least one wired broadband device, and using said tethering function for sharing said wireless broadband connection through aggregating a bandwidth of said wired broadband device to said at least one wireless device, wherein a segmentation of application packets of information, at the layer of the application protocol enabling said connection, namely the application layer, is performed into sub packets that will be transmitted to said at least one wireless device, using a proxy including a set of application handler modules handling packets of information for said connection. The system of the invention is adapted to implement the method of the invention.

  • Patent number: 8213323
Abstract: A method and system are provided for monitoring network performance in order to reveal micro-behavior of network traffic. At least two distinct durations are set for monitoring link utilization. At least one link utilization threshold is set for each duration. Link utilization is monitored at a router using a counter. In addition, a number of durations is provided during which the at least one link utilization threshold has been exceeded.

  • Patent number: 7830848
Abstract: Overall network throughput may be increased in a wireless network through a common network-wide clear channel assessment (CCA) threshold. Each access point performs measurements, and determines suitable CCA thresholds and throughput estimates for each data rate. Results are reported to a central controller that determines the network-wide CCA threshold. The network-wide CCA threshold is then used by all access points and mobile stations.

  • Patent number: 7701852
Abstract: A method for analyzing performance of a network, e.g., a communications network, is provided. In one embodiment, the method includes measuring detailed information relating to packet delays in routers and reporting the gathered information, for instance, using Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). The method hereof provides insight into through-router delays, such insights being particularly useful, for instance, for network providers who may have to comply with allowable delay statistics values across the domains they control.
