  • Publication number: 20190302537
Abstract: A liquid crystal panel includes: a first substrate including multiple pixel electrodes; a liquid crystal layer; and a second substrate. The domains in the display unit region located in an nth row are arranged in an order of a first domain, a second domain, a third domain, and a fourth domain. Each of the pixel electrodes is provided with multiple fine slits parallel to the alignment vectors of the respective domains. Each of the pixel electrodes includes a region where the fine slits do not exist, at both ends of the pixel electrode parallel to the row direction and at one or both of ends of the pixel electrode parallel to the column direction. A portion having a largest width of the region where the fine slits do not exist is included in one or both of the ends of the pixel electrode parallel to the row direction.

  • Patent number: 8964324
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to clearance control between a magnetic head and a recording medium in a magnetic disk device. A magnetic head comprises an embedded contact sensor, a thermal flying height control element, and a hard disk drive controller. The hard disk drive controller is adapted to control a detection current of the embedded contact sensor and a power applied to the thermal flying height control. The detection current supplied to the embedded contact sensor is optimized so that a change in resistance of the embedded contact sensor is less sensitive relative to the power applied to the thermal flying height control. The resistance of the embedded contact sensor remains unchanged when the power applied to the thermal flying height control is changed to adjust for changes in the clearance. Thus, clearance changes can be detected by monitoring changes in the resistance of the embedded contact sensor.

  • Patent number: 7954609
Abstract: A damping valve (10) resists a flow of fluid from a first fluid chamber (41) to a second fluid chamber (42) which are separated by a piston (1). A partitioning member (24, 27-29, 52) partitions an inflow space (A, B) of a passage (2) in the first fluid chamber (41). A spool (17, 31, 51) decreases a flow cross-sectional area of a flow path from the first fluid chamber (41) into the inflow space (A, B) according to a differential pressure between the fluid chambers. By ensuring a gap between the outer circumference of the valve disk (1) and the partitioning member (24, 27-29, 52) which permanently allows fluid to flow from the first chamber (41) into the inflow space (A, B), the damping force characteristic in a high speed region of piston displacement can be set independently of the damping force characteristic in other regions.

  • Patent number: 7701669
Abstract: When the flying height of a magnetic head slider lowers, there arises the problem that the magnetic head slider assumes a forwardly falling attitude and a front edge portion of a leading end of the magnetic head slider comes into contact with a magnetic disk surface, causing damage to the disk surface. To address the problem, one aspect of the invention is directed to a magnetic head slider which includes an air bearing surface, a leading end and a trailing end. Three flying pads are formed on the air bearing surface and a step bearing surface is formed around the first and second flying pads near the leading end and a negative pressure groove for producing a negative pressure is formed in such a manner that the leading side is surrounded by the step bearing surface. The third flying pad is formed near the trailing end and is provided with a magnetic head. A step bearing is formed on the leading side of the third flying pad.

  • Publication number: 20100088617
Abstract: Thumbnails of images including proper photographed dates are sorted for each image selection unit “days” and displayed on a display unit (15) of an album creating apparatus, and from the thumbnails sorted for each image selection unit “days”, the user is made to select thumbnails of arbitrary images to be arranged for each page unit corresponding to the image selection unit. A processing unit (17) of the album creating apparatus stores images of each date designated by thumbnails in a storage unit (16) in response to the pressing of a “Finish” button. The processing unit (17) of the album creating apparatus then creates album data for arranging and printing the designated images of each date by the page unit and outputs the album data to a print output unit (13). The print output unit (13) prints the pages of the album based on the album data.
