  • Publication number: 20080149438
Abstract: A damping valve (10) resists a flow of fluid from a first fluid chamber (41) to a second fluid chamber (42) which are separated by a piston (1). A partitioning member (24, 27-29, 52) partitions an inflow space. (A, B) of a passage (2) in the first fluid chamber (41). A spool (17, 31, 51) decreases a flow cross-sectional area of a flow path from the first fluid chamber (41) into the inflow space (A, B) according to a differential pressure between the fluid chambers. By ensuring a gap between the outer circumference of the valve disk (1) and the partitioning member (24, 27-29, 52) which permanently allows fluid to flow from the first chamber (41) into the inflow space (A, B), the damping force characteristic in a high speed region of piston displacement can be set independently of the damping force characteristic in other regions.

  • Publication number: 20070030597
Abstract: When the flying height of a magnetic head slider lowers, there arises the problem that the magnetic head slider assumes a forwardly falling attitude and a front edge portion of a leading end of the magnetic head slider comes into contact with a magnetic disk surface, causing damage to the disk surface. To address the problem, one aspect of the invention is directed to a magnetic head slider which includes an air bearing surface, a leading end and a trailing end. Three flying pads are formed on the air bearing surface and a step bearing surface is formed around the first and second flying pads near the leading end and a negative pressure groove for producing a negative pressure is formed in such a manner that the leading side is surrounded by the step bearing surface. The third flying pad is formed near the trailing end and is provided with a magnetic head. A step bearing is formed on the leading side of the third flying pad.

  • Patent number: 6765703
Abstract: This invention uses a 4-line color CCD sensor including four line sensors Y, R, G, and B. In a low-speed color read mode, outputs from these sensors are processed by A/D converters and subsequent processing units provided in one-to-one correspondence with the sensors. In a high-speed monochromatic read mode, an output from the Y sensor is divisionally processed by using A/D converters and subsequent processing units provided in one-to-one correspondence not only with the Y sensor but also with the other R, G, and B sensors. This provides an image reading apparatus usable in both the high-speed monochromatic mode and the low-speed color mode and capable of achieving high speed, high accuracy, and low cost.

  • Patent number: 6622894
Abstract: A motor (17a, 17b) opens and closes a shutter turnably mounted so as to open and close a discharge port relevant to a hopper, and generates a torque against a load in a gravity direction of materials dropped from a material supply mechanism to the hopper. A shutter control portion (19a, 19b, . . . 19h) sets a hold current applied to the motor from the start of loading relevant to the shutter caused by the materials to be dropped to a predetermined period, to a first hold current value for applying to the shutter a torque sufficient to bear the shock during charge of the materials.

  • Patent number: 6370343
Abstract: Images to be printed include color images and monochromatic images in combination, the color and monochromatic images are transferred onto an intermediate transfer member, in such a manner that no image-bearable area of the intermediate transfer member is left unused. Before all the four colors of the color image are transferred to the intermediate transfer member, the printing of the monochromatic images are completed. A sheet bearing the printed monochromatic images are temporarily stacked and stored so that the sheets can be finally discharged in the original order of the images. In this manner, it is possible to make good use of the intermediate transfer member, thereby shortening the time required for image formation and improving the throughput of the printing operation.
