  • Publication number: 20010048286
Abstract: The present invention provides a space-saving and low-cost emergency power system, which can be installed on a narrow place having limited space and employs a battery that is long in service life and low in frequency of replacement. This emergency power system comprises a circuit having a DC load, a rectifier, and a battery, which are electrically connected to one another. This circuit is adapted so that normally, DC power is supplied from the rectifier to the DC load, and the battery is charged, and that in an emergency, such as a power failure, in which an outage of the rectifier occurs, electric power is automatically supplied from the battery to the DC load. In this system, a sodium sulfur battery is employed as the battery.

  • Patent number: 6238180
Abstract: The present invention relates to a leak reducing structure in a steam turbine having high pressure, intermediate pressure, and low pressure turbine sections in a single casing, in which steam leaking from the high pressure side to the intermediate pressure side is recovered to be used effectively. The high pressure, intermediate pressure, and low pressure turbine sections are arranged along a rotor in an external casing. High-pressure steam from a high-pressure steam inlet port passes through a nozzle chamber formed integrally with a dummy ring, and flows into the high pressure turbine section to do work. On the other hand, some of high-pressure steam attempts to leak from a seal portion of the dummy ring to the intermediate pressure turbine section side. However, the leaking steam flows from point X of an external pipe to point Y on the high pressure side to be recovered.

  • Patent number: 5859799
Abstract: A plurality of internal power supply voltage generating circuits generate internal power supply voltages. A column select signal at the same voltage level as a first internal power supply voltage applied to a sense amplifier is generated to an I/O gate circuit connecting a bit line pair and an internal data line pair together. A current driving capability of an I/O gate circuit is made relatively small, so that rapid change in potential on a sense node of a sense amplifier is prevented. Thereby, inversion of latched data of the sense amplifier due to collision of data is prevented in such a case voltages on the internal data line pair are not equalized sufficiently.

  • Patent number: 5510695
Abstract: A power generation control system for a generator is provided with a smoothing circuit, a voltage control circuit and an exciting current control circuit including a delaying circuit. When a terminal voltage of a smoothing capacitor is higher than a first reference voltage of a first comparator, a switching element is closed to supply current to an exciting coil. When a divided voltage of a voltage detecting circuit is lower than a second reference voltage of a second comparator, the smoothing capacitor is charged so that the terminal voltage thereof is gradually raised. When a detection voltage of the exciting current control circuit is higher than a third reference voltage of a third comparator, the smoothing capacitor is rapidly discharged so that the terminal voltage thereof is rapidly lowered down to a value not higher than the first reference voltage of the first comparator.

  • Patent number: 5504872
Abstract: A multiprocessor system address translation register control device that creates a directory for the handling of various address translation registers, wherein the directory retains processor data indicative of which of a plurality of address translation registers that can be accessed by multiple processors are actually being used by those processors. This device also uses a partial number register for the handling of various address translation registers, wherein the partial space number register retains partial space numbers for the partial space that all of the address translation registers take as input. By setting and resetting processor indicating data numbers to this directory, and by setting partial space numbers to a partial space number register, this device controls the address translation register allotments for the handling of multiple processors.

  • Patent number: 5439421
Abstract: In a roller chain, a plastic bushing sleeve has flanges which are integrally formed on the ends of the sleeve by injection molding. These flanges fit into complementary recesses in the outer faces of the inner link plates of the chain and prevent axial translation of the sleeve. The flanges and recesses may be made non-circular to prevent rotation of the sleeve. Alternatively, complementary projections and depressions can be formed on circular flanges and on the floors of the recesses. A similar sleeve is incorporated into the rollers of the chain.

  • Patent number: 5408671
Abstract: By using a shared register directory having a bit array corresponding one to one to the processor for each shared register, a shared register control portion of a shared register control system in a multiprocessor system monitors to which processor each of the registers shared between processors is currently allocated or if it is not allocated to any of the processors at all (unoccupied condition), and allocates any arbitrary shared register in response to the request from each processor while allowing access to the allocated share register. A task on the processor, which had been initially using the shared register, can be switched even if another task using the same register is being executed on any other processor, and the throughput of the multiprocessor system using the shared register can be increased.

  • Patent number: 5157321
Abstract: In a charging control apparatus for a vehicle for controlling generation of electric power from a vehicle's generator charging a battery, the rate of increase in the field current of the generator is increased when an electrical load is connected to the generator. A switch is connected in series with the field winding, and a mean conduction rate detector detects the mean conduction rate of the switch and generates an output signal having a value which is a function of the mean conduction rate of the switch. A maximum signal generator generates an output signal having a value larger by a predetermined value than that of the output signal of the mean conduction rate detector, and a comparator is enabled to operate while the maximum signal generator is generating the maximum signal. The comparator is preferably enabled again when the value of the mean output signal of the conduction rate detector exceeds a preset value.
